Ya the AIP letter. Did you get yours by email or in the mail? They may give you a lot of hassle if you're printing the PDF. That's what happened to me, in the end I went back on a different day got a different Service Ontario agent and just told her it came in the mail. She asked why it wasn't signed and I just stuck to the story. I have an Ontario drivers license which she used also, it's best take everything though.

Good luck :)

We printed out the AIP letter, but our problem came in bringing it to too small a Service Ontario outlet. They had never seen the form before (!) and my husband ended up having to go to a Service Ontario outlet in a bigger city. He brought the letter, his passport and Ontario DL, and it was no problem.

And yes, even though he's been here since 2008 - we have a 3 month wait until it kicks in.

Hi , check the two link!

You need your passport, Aip letter, proof of residency.
(In the list 2 you will find what can be used for this)

I applied for OHIP with no problems.
The coverage starts after 3 month from AIP date. (mine Jan 2.)
(I had the AIP letter , G licence ,foreign passport)

Info about OHIP:
This two link is the OHIP application form and the evidence that we (people who got AIP) can apply for health card.
If you have the second printed , they can't turn you down. (List 1/last apply to us)
http://www.forms.ssb.gov.on.ca/mbs/ssb/forms/ssbforms.nsf/GetFileAttach/014-0265-82~13/%24File/0265-82.pdf
http://www.forms.ssb.gov.on.ca/mbs/ssb/forms/ssbforms.nsf/GetFileAttach/014-9998E-82~1/%24File/9998-82E.pdf

Go to a FULL service ontario, in the small ones they don't do temp health cards. (even if it says thats they do health cards, i waited in line for nothing and they sent me to the main office downtown)
Good luck!

Sandman, it looks like you win again. That is two beers for me and Wolanila! This is the same as last time you got your notice late on a Friday and I have to wait in anticipation all weekend for my notice. At least this time it is not a long weekend. I am thrilled I hope you are celebrating tonight!

Hi Rusty53 can you please update my info on the spreadsheet. Been almost a year now and no AIP yet :( I am staying positive though. My spouse contacted the local MP so we are waiting for the reply and also I applies for electronic notes which should get hopefully on Sunday. Have and great weekend guys. All info on the left of my profile.

Confirming we have made the right applications to have implied status while applying inland..

His multiple entrance Visa is up March 6 most likely before we get AIP.... We sent OWP and Extend as a visitor with the PR application.. but in a separate envelope stating to only open after granting AIP.. this is still okay? or do we need to send another something?

Thanks!
here is a copy/paste of a search i did on the topic...

Sir, Madam,

Thank you for contacting Citizenship and Immigration Canada. I am pleased to follow up on your request:

Maintaining a Legal Status During the Process of the Permanent Residence Application

When you are in Canada, you must always keep a legal status until you become a permanent resident. If you do not, you could be removed from Canada. If an immigration document was issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (Work Permit, Study Permit or a stamp in your passport), this document states for how long you can stay in Canada. Having a legal status means that your document or authorization to stay in Canada is still valid.

You have two options available in order to maintain a legal status in Canada until you become a permanent resident:

1. Depending under which immigration program you apply, you could apply for an extension of your status as a visitor, student or worker, while applying for your permanent resident status. If you choose this option, complete both an application to extend your status and an application for permanent residence and mail them before your current status expires. Be sure to include both applications and all the necessary supporting documents and payment for each application in the same envelope.

If you stay in Canada during the processing of your application, you will only have to extend your status once because this option will allow you to keep a legal status in Canada up until the time your application for permanent residence is *approved in principle. If your status expires before your application for permanent residence is approved in principle, you will still have a legal status in Canada. This is known as implied status.

2. You can apply to extend your status as a visitor, student or worker separately from the application for permanent residence; you must do it before the expiry date of your current status. You may have to extend your status more than once.
The application is available on our Web site. You can fill out the application on-line and print it or fill it out by hand.

*Approved in principle means that you received a letter from the Case Processing Centre or the local office stating that you are eligible to apply for permanent resident status but that a final decision will not be made until all requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met. These requirements include medical, security and background verifications for you and, if applicable, your family members.
