My husband did his medical approx. mid January 2012, he's on second stage now.
Will they ask to have it re-done again come mid January 2013???
If so, he will have his OHIP, can he use that to pay for the examination...

and...if so, maybe he should make that appointment and just proactively do it now??

The VO can ask to have them extended for an additional year.

It's VO's choice - they either extend or ask him to do it again.

OHIP will not pay for the examination, but they may pay for additional blood work that is required (I know MSP paid for hepatitis tests herein BC).

He can do it proactively now. In that case the VO won't extend and will use the new results.

Thanks Rusty53, I didnt send in the OWP. Not sure how that works. I did send in my Medical and Police Certificates along with the application. Medical done 13th October 2012.

You are supposed to apply for an extension on your OWP at least 30 days before it expires.
If you applied for the OWP with the PR application then you should be okay but please call the call centre to verify ... 1-888-242-2100
My husband is in a similar situation. His OWP expires Dec. 31st, however he's rec'd first stage. We just sent in an extension on it about 3 weeks ago and were told he can continue to work as an implied worker status until we receive a decision.

Hope this helps!

Thanks ppotiti2626, I will make the call to see the answer of CIC!

If you send in extension before PR app, with receipt of paying for PR app stating REASON FOR STAYING as wanting to stay with family during PR process.
What are chances of being refused?

Comflakes, I think CIC informs you when they check everything is accounted for. I believe this is the AOR. Not sure on how long it takes to receive that though.

Anyone else have more advice to give? I'm still new to this process.

Cheers

The lawyer should know one can and should put an OWP demand in the same enveloppe as PR with a mention "please process when AIP is granted" in order to easily keep a legal status called "implied" throughout the process until decision is made, so no need to bother with any extension later on. But AIP is not taking 11 months anymore like in 2011 so one can always apply for it once AIP is granted...

Hi,

I have some burning questions to ask.. I have applied common-law sponsorship mid this year and I am still awaiting for my AIP and OWP.

Right now, I want to take up masters and don't mind paying for international fee, can i apply student visa while i am here, while still waiting for their decision on my PR? If i leave Canada, I will lose my PR application, so what should i do?

Dear

You need to wait for your first stage of approval (AIP) which determines your eligibility for PR so you may apply for study permit, though you need to get admission from your graduate school to apply for study permit.

Busybee, good luck on your landing tomorrow. Let us know how it goes!

Sandman, are you able to log in to ecas and see your status yet?

When you recieve confirmation that CIC has your application let me know and I will add you to the spreadsheet. Did you send OWP, police clearance and medical?
