Wow, CIC updated their processing times. I didn't expect them to do it on Monday. They finally accepted that Step1 takes 10 months!

You have to remember that not everyone is able to access the forum as I am sure a few of the applicants are working and thus not able to post anything until they get home. Some other working or not working, may not bother to post anything until some news come their way. So you will get some days of "hardly any postings" to "tons of postings". It is really up to each applicants on how to contribute to the thread.

So your file is still in Vegreville? So how did the Vancouver transfer explained to you by them?

Wow, CIC updated their processing times. I didn't expect them to do it on Monday. They finally accepted that Step1 is 10 months!

Well not surprising that they updated it today as they were late in updating it Friday and decided to update it today.

But I am surprised that they updated it to 10 months for initial 1 stage. But it is in fact a reality based on 3 months delay. They can't continue to call it 6 months after a 3 month delay.

Yes, you are right. 10 months for step 1 is annoying. But I know the processing times might change from 10 months to 9 months, 8 months, 7 months..... because the similar thing happened on a weekly basis in last autumn.

They updated it to 10 months due to unfortuately reality of 3 months delay and to "cover their butts" in lawsuits so their rights to 6 months claim is no longer valid. And when the months go by, it will likely drop the 1st stage waitime bit by bit down to normal 6 months after clearing backlogs.

Simply means that most of us wont be hearing anything on our files for now!!!! All I can do is laugh because if I grieve myself I will just die in pain and anguish. It's the very least to call it crazy..... it's heartless

I have no more words to express my emotions about all this. Like you said.. Better to laugh than to grieve - that's a good one! Yep it's buh-bye for that AIP. I need a shot of tequila right now lol.

Reminds me of the time when my middle brother had to start grade 12 high school when grade 12 was introduced that year. Instead of finishing high school at grade 11 and going to university, he basically had to do more useless courses for another year before going to university. It was pointless to do grade 12 when he completed all the required courses to go to university. It was certainly heartless for him to waste a year before going to university only because a line got to be made somewhere in introducing grade 12.

We can't know when is the best timing to send our applications. It can't be helped. But, CIC will not process 'October applications' forever. After they finish it, the processing times will become shorter than now. Try to be positive!

I see that the processing time for new PR card remained unchanged. 69 days. Not surprising since it is processed out of Halifax. If this were processed out of same vergreville cic, then it would be show huge delay in getting PR cards too. Although some of those who landed in May have not received their cards yet.

1) the 10 month wait is 10 months from when they recieve it or 10 months from AOR?

2) once you get DM and you go for your meeting and assuming all goes as planned and you are granted PR, can you then leave Canada or do you have to wait another 2-3 months for the actual PR card to arrive?

1) 10 months from when they receive your application. Not from AOR.

2) You can leave Canada so long as you can come by private transport like driving in your car at border. Otherwise PR card is needed. Commerical transports (airline/buses/boats) will not accept you without your PR card. This is to avoid heavy fines from Canada for letting "illegal" or "undocumented foreigners" from entering Canada. Nobody is stopping you from leaving Canada. So if you are outside Canada and have no PR card, you could apply for travel documents as PR to re-enter Canada. However who is to say you would get the travel document in time for your flight back.
