Thanks Rusty!

For those that had issues with OHIP, Ontario Service did not accept AIP email letter format. I called CIC about Ontario Service not accepting the letter. Was informed that they only send paper letter by mail to Residents of Quebec. Everyone else gets email.

We went back to office armed with this new info. They still rejected it. As it turned out, the head manager called CIC and was then informed of this new change. They assumed all this time that Sponsorship applications gave options to receive paper mail or email notifications. Now they know that applicants will not have that option anymore.

Until their policy is changed, all those applying for OHIP using AIP email letters, will have to submit the application to OHIP Review Board. We gotten our response from Review Board 5 weeks later granting us OHIP.

We returned to the office once again. They accepted it and granted us the OHIP. However they warned us that until we get PR, they will not renew 1 year OHIP without both the AIP letter and Letter from Review Board next time despite having OHIP initially.

Has anyone come across this issue with OHIP using AIP letter?

We submitted our PR app in Dec. along with OWP. My husband would have been out of status in Jan 13. Today he received a TRP from Immigration valid until Dec. 2013. Any one else had this?

Nigea,

Did you apply for a TRP extension for your husband? It is very unusual to get an extension without paying $75 for it. I don't see CIC giving out free TRP extension for those out of status.

Good news from my end. Just received email from CIC that processing of my PR application has been completed and Etobicoke Immigration Centre will contact me regarding my PR status. I could enjoy having an OWP for just over a week. :D

Anyways, hope everyone gets their applications processed fast. Rusty, do you mind updating the spreadsheet with this info, please?

No we did not apply for an extension. We only applied for OWP to be processed after\ AIP. This is an official Visitor record good ntil Dec. 2013 that states "Temporary Resident Status Maintained as per R183(6). Maybe it is because he entered Canada before Vincentians needed a visa?????

Thanks a lot Rusty, knowing you brought me good luck so I would be happy to stick around and support whoever is still in the waiting game. :) I will keep you posted about further processing.

I think you received a visitor record. A TRP ("Temporary Resident Permit") is a special document issued to overcome inadmissibility.

R183(6) says:

If the period authorized for the stay of a temporary resident is extended by operation of paragraph (5)(a) or extended under paragraph (5)(b), the temporary resident retains their status, subject to any other conditions imposed, during the extended period.
And R183(5) says:

If a temporary resident has applied for an extension of the period authorized for their stay and a decision is not made on the application by the end of the period authorized for their stay, the period is extended until
(a) the day on which a decision is made, if the application is refused; or
(b) the end of the new period authorized
for their stay, if the application is allowed.
This is what we refer to as "implied status".

So it means the holder remained in status the entire time.

jiggyzealous, you need to relax and enjoy the ride. Just to make sure I looked deeply into the coffeee grounds in the bottom of my cup on the corner of my desk and I am now getting conflicting information. My coffe cup says that you will get AIP on April 19th, one day sooner, but I still want to stay with what the night sky told me and say the 20th. Good Luck!

Wow, this is amazing. Only 36 days from AIP to DM. Congratulations Loops. I am happy for you. I can't believe that I am filling in DM's right above me and right below me. Maybe my turn is soon.

There are three fees:

$75 - sponsor fee
$475 - applicant fee
$490 - Right of Permanent Residence Fee

The minimum to file is $550 and the final cost for a successful application is $1040 (including the RPRF).

Congratulations on your rapid decision!
