Quick question about the spreadsheets.

The Inland 2011 spreadsheet shows the average time between AIP and Stage 2 as being 3 weeks.

Is that true? Was it that fast last year? If so, why do they show 8 months on the website?

The 2012 spreadsheet shows the average as 2 months. Did it slow down last year?

Just wondering if anyone has the scoop on this...

:)

I cannot speak for the 2011 spreadsheet but I can for 2012. The actual time is probably much longer than the 2 months showing on the spreadsheet. The reason it is showing 2 months is because it is an average of the time between AIP and Stage 2 for those that have passed this point. What is skewing this is that 2 people actually received stage 2 on the same day as their AIP. I would suggest that you focus on the dates that CIC is using as a timeline otherwise if you assume anything else you are very likely going to be dissapointed. I can assure you as the 2012 spreadsheet moves forward the time will most certainly increase. I have also been informed by some people that the 2011 spreasheet is not being maintained anymore. I believe that the originator has moved on and not passed the control onto anyone else.

Hi, I was one of those people who did not apply for OWP with my PR application and I'm tired of waiting for the DM for the PR. So I decided to apply for OWP. I was wondering how long would it take for me to get the OWP? I was waiting for my PR as I heard from a CIC officer that after receiving first approval withing 3 months I should be getting my PR but I did not received anything yet and I do not want to sit at home and do nothing anymore. Thanks in advance.

And also how much do I need to pay for the application? Thanks

Current times are posted on the CIC website. As of just now when I looked it's 83 days for a paper application and 78 days for an online application.

So figure 3 months.

The application fee is $150

so I received the document - Work permit and ? that's all I need, right? or I have to go to services Canada and get a temporary SIN? or no?
this is not so clear to me... nothing is mentioned about that in the document...?

You take the work permit to Service Canada and they assign you a temporary SIN on the spot.

Thank you computergeek. Now I'm in dilemma. Should I wait until I get my PR which according to CIC officer I should be getting it soon as I have got my first approval letter on 21st September? Or apply for a work permit and get it in 78 days? Desitions desitions desigions. Do any of you received their OWP in less then 78? I believe 78 days is the maximum.

Thanks

If you land before they process your work permit application, they refund the fee.

Sorry but what you mean "land" ? I'm already in Canada. Do you mean if I receive PR before they start procession my OWP application? Sorry it is late and my brain does not work after 7pm :) Thanks again!

I'm not sure whether I should call CIC and even if I do would it make any difference? I see you are already landed computergeek and it seems you have applied exactly 1 months after I sent my applicaion which is in Feb 6th. I wonder why my application is taking so long? They did not contacted us asking any additional document. We have used a lawyer to make sure that we don't make any mistakes when filling the form. So I don't think there is anything that they need or may be I should contact our lawyer(I hate that bugger! ) ?

Hi guys. I think I got AIP. I have not received any email, but the online status shows DM. I called CIC today, and the representative told me it has been approved and the letter is on its way.
