Hello Guys
I am a Canadian citizen. I live with my wife and son in Toronto. I have applied for their immigration and here are the details from the CIC website:

We received your application for permanent residence on September 20, 2010.
We started processing your application on November 8, 2010.
We received the requested information on March 16, 2011. Thank you for providing the information.
We received the requested information on May 19, 2011. Thank you for providing the information.
A decision has been made and you will be contacted

Do you guys think we have completed the process and would get the PR card soon?

I will appreciate the replies to my querry.

hi everyone, thanks for your answers to my questions so far. As I read some of the old posts, I got few more questions:
1) Apply OWP with PR application. If we get AIP, will CIC automatically give us OWP without further checks (like admissibility), or the officier responsible for OWP will conduct further checks to ensure we are qualify for a OWP before it is mailed out with our AIP letter? I am afraid that if there is some problem with my OWP could affect my PR application.
2) I have a two year study permit already(valid till Oct 31, 2013), can I mail an OWP with my PR application so that I can work part-time while going to school? Will the applicantion for an OWP make the officier think I am going to stop school and start working, and will the granted OQP make my study permit invalid?
3) In my case, any advantage of sending OWP with PR app?

Hi there SMA.DE, I will try my best to answer some of your questions.
1) Yes, usually when you get AIP if you submitted the OWP with the PR application, you would be given the OWP. Now of course you do still need to mail all the requirements of documents on the OWP checklist as well. You would still need to meet the steps for the OWP approval but in most cases if you already met the requirements for AIP you are already eligible for the OWP. Do not worry, there should be no delay or have any affect on your PR application.

2) Yes, you can still mail an OWP with your PR application. They will process that when you get AIP. Of course you won't be able to work until you get the OWP which will be 9-10 months after they receive your application for OWP/PR. No, the OWP shouldn't have any effect on what the IO thinks. I am not certain what "OQP" is, so I am afraid I can't answer that. But you can hold both a study permit and work permit at the same time and it not make either invalid, is that what you are asking?

3) Well since you already have valid status as a student until October 31, 2013 then you should be okay as far a status goes. Just know that if your status is about to expire during the inland process than you should renew it. Remember after PR you won't need a study or work permit anymore. The advantage you would have with submitting the OWP with the PR application is if you would like to be able to work after getting AIP (9-10 months after Vegreville receives your application).

Hello mujeebshah! Congratulations your family has gotten AIP aka "Approval In Principle" which is the first portion. Now you just need to wait for the second portion to be done. They will finish up medical, security, and background checks on your family and once that is done your application status will tell you instead on "In Process" that it is "Decision Made". Once you click on that it will tell you that a letter has been sent about the decision. That means everything is completely finished. Your family will then need to wait for the local CIC office in your area (either Scarborough or Etobicoke) to contact about landing and becoming a PR. They will ask a few simple questions and will sign a document. They will receive a COPR document (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) and you will need to keep that in a very safe place. After landing at the local office as a PR they will then receive their PR card in 8-10 weeks. CONGRATULATIONS! It is easier from here on out.

When did your wife get AIP? You can call CIC hotline to ask. I could then put you on the chart to help other members around the time you applied.

L_Y, Thank you for your reply...I made a typo, "OQP" supposed to be "OWP". So with both a study permit and a OWP, I can choose to go to school full time, go to work full time, or go to school with part-time job, right?

As you know, in real cases, what's the longest waiting time for the AIP stage? I am thinking in the worst case, will I get AIP after my study permit's expiry date?

Why the heck did mine take so long. Sent August 2010. Received in October. Started processing June 2011.

CIC website says 9 months for stage-1 and 9 months for stage-2. But in your case tracking, I see that some applied in Sep, got approved in June, and landed in July. How is that possible?

Also, I want to find out that can you apply for medical benefits, take courses at college as local students, apply for a driving license and apply for child tax benefits.

Lately a lot of people with a strait-forward case that got their first stage processed, also had second stage processed at the same time if it was possible (not lacking information). So that's why it could be done in about 9-10 months. The waiting time from AIP to the landing interview completely depends on your local office.

Where can I send the requested missing document, I mean I want to send them the receipt as a proof that I did my medical already.

And Can I send my proof of medical + OWP application to the same address?

You're welcome SMA.DE. You would have to go based on the rules for working while having a study permit. If you study permit allows you to work full time while going to school then yes you can do that. But most cases you can only work so many hours a week while in school. Best to ask your school and CIC about it. If your case is straightforward than it should take no longer than 9-10 months to get approved for AIP after they receive your application. But if they need to interview you about your relationship or criminality concerns than it could take at the longest 2-3 years. You will get AIP 9-10 months after your PR application is received by Vegreville and if you meet all requirements.

You are welcome abisehiyo. I would wait to submit the OWP until after achieving AIP approval. However, sending extra proof now would be okay.

If you didn't notice though whiteapple, they were only given AIP (first stage) not the second stage yet. In order to pass the last and second stage you need to pass criminal, background, and medical checks. If your medical or police clearances aren't valid anymore they can ask you to get new ones. After you send the new ones and they pass that stage they will then get "Decision Made" and be finished. They would only then need to wait to be contacted for landing as a PR.
