Hello folks!

I am writing to you guys because I will have the landing interview in a week. I would like to know if any you you, who have gone thru the interview already, have any advice or comments.
Also, I have a question. should I bring pictures and proofs of our marrige, etc? We sent pictures of our wedding and travels together, but....

Any help will be fully appreciated!

Hola Pepe!!

Hello Pepe, if it is just a landing interview, it has nothing to do with your relationship or needing more evidence. The landing interview is just a formality to make sure to tell you of your rights and responsibilities, to make sure everything is spelt correctly on documents, and to sign a couple of documents. What does your e-Cas say?

Thanks Love_Young. My e-cas says this

We received your application for permanent residence on November 8, 2010.

We started processing your application on December 17, 2010.

A decision has been made and you will be contacted.

Medical results have been received.

We sent you a letter on October 3

And then I received a letter saying to bring 2 photographs, my passport and 490 dollars for the interview on December the first.
Cheers!

Pepe

If I sent off for a work permit, do I have to keep extending my visitor's visa?

Guys, I just got an update on my E-cas... not sure if it is good:

We received your application for permanent residence on June 17, 2010.

We started processing your application on August 26, 2010.

A decision has been made and you will be contacted.

Medical results have been received.

We received the requested information on June 15, 2011. Thank you for providing the information.

We sent you medical instructions on November 25, 2011. To avoid delays, please provide us the information requested in the letter as soon as possible. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

What the heck is that? Are they requesting my medical tests again? As you can see they received my medicals some time ago. If yes, it is terrible cause we have to waste money on it again and not to mention they take MONTHS to open letters and attach new docs to our files.

Any help/suggestion?

Thanks >:(

I tried to call CIC today and I forgot it was Sunday! Doh!

Dear LY, thank you so much for the chart update. it has been like a torch shedding light on this long, dark road. can't thank you enough for taking your precious time doing this for all of us for free. girl, you're the best.

Thanks Babyhangon. We got approved for AIP Nov 15th, and received the letters in the mail Nov 21st. When I was asking the call center for updates before AIP, I always ask if they received my medicals and they have done criminal record check, and they've always said yes. So I was expecting our 2nd stage won't be a very long wait. Hopefully you'll have the same luck and we all have a good Christmas! :) Goodluck a lot!

LY, our DM is dated Nov 23rd. and its Edmonton office, it usually takes 4-6 weeks for landing. I will update once we get our landing date.

Hey, abisehiyo. thanks for sharing your tips. i'll make sure to ask CIC as well about medical results and background check. my wife's AIP letter should arrive early next week. we're anxious to see what's in the letter.

enjoy a new life, my friend.

i was thinking about jeymi. why did she stop showing up? hope she is fine.

I also want to encourage everyone who has just gotten AIP in Ontario to sign up for OHIP the minute you get that confirmation letter. You will get a month knocked off your 3 month waiting period. Good luckeveryone.

thanks for this nice reminder, californiajeninca. so, the AIP letter will be good enough to apply for the OHIP? would you kindly list things to do after AIP? what i know includes: OWP, temp SIN card, Ontario health card, what else? by the way, we're in Toronto. my wife overstayed her visitor's visa. she can't wait to restore a normal status here. ;D

Yes, I think so. Only work permits fall under the implied status, as far as I know. So until a decision is made on your OWP, you'll need to keep a valid status by renewing your visitor status. Check with CIC though!

It expires Feburary 28th 2012, so I dont think the processing of my OWP is going to be THAT long. I applied for my OWP September 3rd.
