Congratulations Babyhangon,you have AIP(1st stage approval) ;D ;D ;D ;D...now the waiting game continues

Thank you, tozo.

we called CIC at the last minute today and was told my wife got AIP. although the waiting game continues as you said, we are still happy to see some light near the end of this long, dark tunnel.

we're waiting for the 2 letters CIC sent us and hopefully the 2nd stage will be much shorter than the claimed 8 months. it would indeed be crazy to wait for another 8 months.

thank all friends here for help and encouragement. special thanks to LoveYoung for your incredible kindness and efforts to get this post going. the world is nicer because of you.

well they send us this update form to fill out in Aug which we returned and they got it by Aug 19th(says on ecas thank you for the requested document), it was basically a 2 yr job/address/school form where you have to tell them what you did in the last two years without gaps.

we did our medical when we send the app in march 2010, does it mean its expired now? should we wait for them to request another medical or do we do it ourselves?
Hi oceans_end . you should call cic call center and ask them if you need redo your medical. Just try to call different agents. Because some of them do not actually know.

so did you call them after AIP to ask why it takes so long??

Hi there! I just like to ask if i have a valid work permit not an OWP but just a regular one ,can I travel outside Canada? (even if I have applied INLAND?) Thank you!

Exactly 11 months today ... Still waiting and about to loose patience... It is so long !!! Specially now that the delay went up 11-12 months don t how much longer we'll have to wait ! Painful really !!

so tired of seeing in process now this whole immigration is about to drive me nuts

Hi LY, I hate to harass you girl but can we get a chart update? There are 42 pages that you have to go through and we have not had an updated chart in 1 month and 10 days. The last time was Oct.14.

How are rented cars classified? And what about if I take the bus to the nearest town, I walk across the border and find a bus at the next town? What about a car borrowed from a friend/family member if he/she asked me to pay for the gas plus a bit extra (for writing it off), is that commercial?
OK... You can cross the border with your car, friend's car or rental car, you wont have any problem coming back without your PR card because your name will come out in the systema as a permanent resident.

I also found out why CIC does not recommend using commercial transportation when you dont have yet your PR card... the problem is not getting out of Canada, the problem is when you are coming back, no Airline, train or bus should allow anyone without valid traveling documents, otherwise they get fine by Canada from 3000$ to 5000$ if someone enters Canada without valid documentation. So, my friend recommended (40 years working for CIC) to go to the Canadian Embassy to get a visa or a travel document that will allow the Commercial carrier to let you back into Canada.

Hope this help you...

You can find out if you have been approved in 3 ways......
1.by calling CIC
2.by checking from Ecas
3.a letter from CIC to confirm approval or file transfered to local office
Hope its helps you.good luck :D
