Congratulations to Amanda!

I am so happy for you!

mexicanito: Well I hate to say it but that is what working under the table is. You can be expected to be treated fairly from your employment when they aren't going by any rules to employ you anyway. I know it is hard to wait but I have waited almost 3 years without any pay and we have made it. It won't be much longer so hang in there. Quit your job, enjoy your last bit of full break with family because AIP is soon to follow. Then once that comes, you can get a proper job where the law can help protect you better as far as ethics go.

lemony_20: Woohoo, CONGRATULATIONS! We are all so happy for you. :D :-*

Mrs happy tree: Thank you for your input, I will add you to the chart now.

AmandaHsu: OMG, I am just so so so excited for you right now. I reckon I will put yesterdays date as the day you got AIP. If the date ends up being different on your AIP letters, let me know. And see I told you that you only had about two days left and I was right and I told you had nothing to worry about. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I am so happy for you. :P ;D

Thank you Love_Young!
They said I got AIP yesterday, but will let you know if the date is different.

You're welcome. Thank you, I will put yesterdays date for now.

Lemony_20 I should say thank you, you were the one made me to call :P :P :P

Love_Young: I can't really tell how I appreciate you...for creating the thread, updating the chart, bringing all applicants together and always being there to help. I don't know how I would pass the 11 months without these.

I finally reached my bf on the phone and he was not that excited like me and he just told me "see, I told you nothing to worry, I'll get some wine for you tonight.." so I'm screaming by myself at home now and the neighbor may call cops later :P :P :P

Now I know, I'll have a good sleep tonight ;D

hi my dear supporters, I checked PR document checklist today after Jurjen's advice for putting N/A in not applicable fields.
However, I hit other two small questions, if you know, please help me out.
1. My sponsor received EI (Employment insurance) for a couple of months during the last year.
Is EI an kind of social assistance?
Do I need to attach EI as government payments under PROOF OF INCOME FOR SPONSOR section?

2. Another small question is, document checklist asked to attach pictures/photos separately. Here is what it said:
Photographs of the marriage or common-law relationship ceremony, if applicable (photocopies are acceptable;p originals will not be returned)
In my application, I don't print photographs like the ones we put into photo frame. I found it's hard to manage to me.
My way is, I put them all under my separate papers (MS Word file) to explain for particular questions, put explanation or notes under each picture and print them by my color printer. Is it okay? I read somewhere in this thread that it was okay but I'm not pretty sure. I found myself very comfortable to print and attach all pictures into a file than bringing them to Walmart, shopper drug mart or loblaw to do for me.

Amanda is right, I think this would not be such an organized community without Love_Young and the knowledge they have. You have helped a lot of people including myself.
Thank you for continuing to update the chart long after you have become a landed immigrant.

Amanda, remember it was you first who told me to call CIC last night :] So we inspired each other and have both gotten AIP :]

Thank you hatrang and tozo for the congrats!

Yeah, I agreed with you two, and I believe this thread will still last much longer after all 2010 applicants get PR card :D.
Congrats to AmandaHsu. Now, you can have a real weekend eh?

Guys, especially LY, I want to send in the open work permit. Do I need to have everything on the document checklist at this link?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp

Remember, I have already sent in the main application.

Congratulations to the new members of the group of AIP.

Anna and I received the three envelopes today with a request for a new medical and an update to her almost expired passport.

For those of you who included an open work permit application, realize that its validity is limited by your passport. So to save yourself some additional effort filling out another work permit application, you might want to get your passport updated before you submit your application.

Anna's work permit expires in March because of this issue and we may have to pay another $150 to extend it.
