I share that thought! Above all: if for such a long time there's this huge waiting line, why doesn't CIC Vegreville hire and train a few extra agents to slowly work away that waiting line. Or share half the stack with Missassauga...

to hire means more money to spend which they dont wanna. and it doesnt hurt for them that the line is huge :/

cdarroch is still here - with an update! This week's ECAS: "A decision has been made and you will be contacted"!!

Hopefully, it's a good decision :)

@ Blackberry - we got the same letter. She's been volunteering for a seniors' center to fill up the time, and my assumption is that CIC just wanted to clarify that it wasn't a "job" (everyone there is a volunteer). Anyways, that's what we told them and we included contact info for the Volunteer Coordinator of the organization. I wouldn't worry too much :) Have you been volunteering? Maybe they just want some clarification. Good luck!!
Thats great news ! :D

Finally, our application is moving along!! I hope this means AIP and an OWP for my partner!

"We received your application for permanent residence on February 15, 2010.

We started processing your application on May 3, 2010.

A decision has been made and you will be contacted."

Our e-CAS status was updated this morning, and yesterday the CIC website changed the application processing date to applications received on Feb 15. Looks like the actual processing times are exactly in line with what CIC says on their website!

Congratulations on your AIP ;)

You stated your app. was received Mar 01 and started processing May 18, how did you get that info? I sent my app. Mar 22, received Mar 25. Never received any mail from CIC since then. I keep trying to check the E-CAS website but it keep telling me it does not recognize me. I tried calling the call centre, but they said they are processing application received up to Feb 9, so they can't tell me anything about my application. Did you use E-CAS? What did you use as identification info?

Thanks in advance.

It says that info on E-CAS. That "in process" date appeared sometime mid-summer.. we haven't officially received a letter stating that they received our application. We used my partner's client ID number he had from his visitor status renewal.

I was also not able to get information via the phone or through e-cas, so I ordered the FOSS notes and found out that my application was received July 6th, 2010 and started processing on September 18, 2010 (I am going from memory, so I may be off a few days).

I have a question...what does AIP mean? I have heard that it stands for Approval in Principle, but what does that mean? When do you actually receive PR status and a PR card?

When and where did you send the request for FOSS notes. How long after you received them?

AIP only allows you to apply for work permit (if you have not done so). It will also let you enroll in Provincial Health insurance plan. For PR status you have to wait till all the security, backgrounds, and medical checks are done. PR card only comes after you get PR status. Hope this helps.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, Adzee.

I followed the advice on this forum for getting the FOSS notes. All of my information is at home right now, so I don't have the address handy. However, there is a really good thread somewhere in this forum that talks about FOSS notes and gives the address (I think it was Vegreville) to send the request to.

It only took a few weeks for me to get the FOSS notes back after I requested them. They were not easy to read, but I noticed in the general section of this forum there is a thread with all of the abbreviations listed.

I hope this helps. If you are still having trouble finding the FOSS information, let me know and I will dig up the information from my files over the weekend and post it on Monday.

With AIP they could also request a medical if it has not been done and police checks if not already included, or more information for the background and security checks that they do.

Congratulations to yulye for AIP and cdarroch for getting an update on E-cas. Plus anyone else I may have missed :)

Have a great weekend everyone :P

Hey how is everyone? Hope all is well and that everyone is getting good news soon.
Well me and the hubby went out for the day and out to eat. I ended up getting a new phone because my other one was junk plus I saved $100 on this new one. Also, today marks 2 years ago that me and hubby first met each other. We have been living together ever since. Just couldn't bare to be apart and hope we never have to be. I will update the chart very very soon but for tonight I am enjoying the fact that 2 years to the day we met at the airport, I am still with my hubby. Ahh...what a wonderful feeling! :D

Love_young,

are you able to login to ecas?
Hey nope we still arent. I have just came to the conclusion that we probably won't be able to until a final decision is made which probably won't be until April. Just got to be patient I guess.:(

I can`t log in the e-cas either, but the agent yesterday told me more likely that we won`t be able to until decision is made. I know my client id from my previous visas, do you guys know yoursÉ
I got lucky this time, the agent I talked to was great- I had a dilemma to wait my LMO or submit a visitor visa appl. now to secure my status and then she pointed out in 2 minutes what I couldn`t figure myself. I should apply now online, get the visitor status and if my LMO arrives meanwhile it`s not gonna be an extention on my WP but a new one. So I can just drive to the border and get it issued- don`t have to send it outland and wait. Or if I never get it I will have the status way earlier and don`t need to worry about it. How could I not think about this wayÉ She also told 9-11 months for 1st stage...aaah...

Hello! I just want to ask all of you how long it took to get your open work permit? (From the date you sent the application of)
