Hi guys,

I have 2 questions.

We did not send in an open work permit with my husbands application for PR. We hired an immigration consultant and the consultant did not attach it to our file and send it. Wouldn't an immigration consultant have known to send in an open work permit? Can I still send it now? I called CIC to ask this question and the person on the phone told me that we can try but it is not 100% if they will attach it or not. What do you guys think? Has anyone not sent it in with the app and sent it in later and got the work permit in the mail with AIP?

Also, my husbands Visitor extension expires in October. I know we won't hear anything about AIP until January or so. Should we extend it or is he on implied status? The CIC guy told me that because he did not apply for a work permit with his PR app he will not be on any status after the October date and therefore we have to extend it. I have spoken to so many people that have done this process and did not extend there status because they were on implied status. Any thoughts? Has anyone not extended it and still got approved?

Actually sounds like you got a really smart/knowledgable agent. Yay! But yes, all that he said about both things is correct.

Yes, I wouldn't fib to you. You could attempt it but to tell you the truth, you are probably better off sending the extension (where you're guaranteed implied status) versus risking the OWP not getting attached. If you are going to send it, make sure you include a note with it and also list all information on there needed to attach it. Get tracking on your mail. Hopefully they will make you aware of e-Cas that they received information from you. Then you can order FOSS notes to back it up. The agent did give a proper suggestion. You can do it but it is never a 100% guarantee that it will be attached. Ultimately it is up to you.

And the agent is also correct in that your hubby will not have implied status since he didn't send in an OWP or extension with his PR application so if he will need to extend that if you chose not to attach the OWP. Make sure you get tracking with that as well. Do what you feel is best but also consider all factors too.

You're in similar situation as us. We had to apply for my wife's extension before we got our AIP since the stamp is only valid for 6 month, but it takes like 9 month to get your AIP. On the AIP it will say the date by which you have to leave the country, which will be the same as the date of the visit extension document. Just because you get your AIP does not mean you can stay here without an extension. The second extension we received expires in 2013 for some reason. It's also good to have if you need to travel between now and the time you get your PR card.

We also didn't submit the work permit with our application and when we asked the agent they said that now we had to wait until getting the AIP letter and could not send in the interm. We got the AIP in april and send an application for the OWP soon after, which we still have not received.

I have no idea what MEDOTT means..
But it is under some numbers, then my name, then Status: Active (it that means in process?)
it also says overs Health on mine.

could someone help me?

No prob. It doesn't seem to be clear anywhere on the internet. So my guess is that no body knows exactly what it means. What we know, is that it's not a bad thing otherwise it would be all over the internet like denial or rejection!! Sorry to see that your application has taken a while. Hope it all works out. As someone said before it probably stands for "Medical-Ottawa" aka Medott.
This would make sense as this is where the medicals are stored at and Medott was in my medical portion of FOSS.

I do the search,and I read my foss again, it shows me the denied date is Mar,24,2011. Hopfull i do not need to redo in future.

You're welcome. Are you sure it is denied? I know on the FOSS it says appr/denied date (insert date). I think yours was just expired now is all, not actually denied.

Hello CEC......Theresa_Lynn.....GIGI......other who applied in June 2010.......got AIP..OWP in April 2011...and after sending police clearance still waiting for second stage approval......Is there any new?!
