Hello everyone..

I am now a perminent resident of Canada. I am landed this morning. 19 April 2011 The schedule is at 8.30am. I and my husband arrived to the cic office in Lethbride, AB at 8.20am. Once we got in the office, we paid for the $490 fee and given 2 photos to the officer. Afterward, we were invited to the room and were asked 2 questions by the officer:

1. Are you married? YES ;D
2. Are you happily married? YESSSSSSSSSSS ;D


Then I was asked about some sort of criminal actions and the answer are all NOOOOOOOO 8)

, sign the Perminent resident form and passport stamped!

Done... with in 10 mins We left the cic office at 8.30am.

It took almost 12 months....since I've filed the application.

I feel so happy. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

For everyone who is still waitting to hear from CIC, I encorage you to look forward for it. Your day will come in time.

We are waiting on the aip letter from CIC. Does anyone know what documents we have to bring to apply for OHIP? I know we need thé aip lettre, but do we need anything else?

My wife applied a couple of weeks ago , so ur going to need the AIP letter and two pieces of ID passport and another one that has your hubbys signiture , it has to be Canadian though does he have a drivers licence , my wife didnt so she got a library card and that worked.

Random question, does anyone know about getting a drivers license. I am from the states and have one from there (which I ideally would like to continue holding onto) but I would also like to get a Canadian one. We currently don't have a car, but it is always a hassle when we try to rent one here without a Canadian license.

I think that there are some states from US that the Ontario government recognize, so in those cases what you have to do is just go with you license and the rest of the documentation you need (check the website) and they will send you a Canadian driver license.
In my case what I have to do was, first transcript in the consulate my driver license (it is required to be an official transcription) . Then translated with an official translator and then I went to the place where you get your drivers license and I proved them that I have more than 3 years of experience driving. So I could apply for a full drivers permit. Of course I had to pass all the exams but I save money and time.

I called CIC just now,and confirmed that I just got AIP on Apr.19,2011 .My ecase hasn't been updated yet until now

"We received your application for permanent residence on Jul.21, 2010.

We started processing your application on Aug 27, 2010."
