ATTENTION: Chart Update (read below for details)


You may have noticed that I made some noticeable changes to the chart. I added a new column that I thought you all would find beneficial. It lists the total time it took for a member to get AIP. I feel this will help give another accurate look into how long it could "realistically" take for us to get AIP ourselves instead of relying fully on CIC since we all know their charts aren't always that reliable. I added two new members komar and lemony_20 to our chart. WELCOME! I also removed one member from the chart as they were from Dec 09 and didn't apply in 2010. I thought this was adding to some confusion. So I think that is all for now but I hope you like the new addition of a column and find it helpful during the wait. Good luck everyone!

P.S. From the new column I have gather the following information: 17 people got AIP in less than 9 months, 10 people got AIP in less than 10 months, and 2 people got AIP after 10 months (only due to transfer). From the looks of things most receive AIP from 8 months to 9 1/2 months.

They should actually give you a SIN # on the spot and you will receive an actual card within 10-14 days if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the infos about SIN and how to apply.
For anyone who is going to do it or for anyone who doesn't know where to look, it is here:

a) documents you need to apply:

Btw, Villacuba, try to call their call center, they should let you know what to do and don't wait too long with it cause you have just sent them application and most likely they didnt open it yet. Maybe it isnt too late to send the documents.


Chandu007, usually people can see their status when they receive first letter from the Immigration and in that letter you will get your client ID number that will help you to log in. Average time of waiting for that letter is 9-10months, you can see the chart that Love Young made and shared with us.

u can send them now as they will expire three months from the date they were issued but use this addres for additional documents dnt forget to write your date of birth and ur sponsor's date of birth,sponsor's name and urs, adress ,phone number client id if you have on ur previous study or work permit its written in there all this write on a piec of paper say you have attached the police certificates

Also remember that with AIP and a open work permit, the SIN is temporary. They will give you a SIN that starts with a 9--------. and has an expiration date. once you get your PR finally, you need to apply for yet ANOTHER SIN number which doesnt have an expiration date.

So relieved to find others in the same boat.

Sent my inland application to sponsor my husband to Vegreville back in September -- still not a word from CIC.

They tell me they haven't even opened it yet. Is that normal?

Also:
My husband has a job-specific work permit expiring in June. What happens if we haven't heard anything by then?

And I have a little question for everyone, I've noticed that some people knew when their application in process, even though they haven't heard anything from CIC, so how do you know your paper is in process? I tried to asked CIC but they just told me that if Canada Post showed someone in CIC sign it means CIC received my application already, they can't help to give me more info. Well, yes, somebody signed but I'm still worried about if they lost my paper and it actually happened to some people ....so I don't know I should call CIC again or not.....

How do we even know CIC received the application, let alone if it's processing?
