I think it depends on what type of job you have. For example, in past obtaining Film & Television work permit usually took about 3 weeks.
Now it takes several month. Based on situation, more essential is agricultural and medical specialists.
If you are lucky you could start to work before you will get WP(using priority code ) but it works selectively for some reason.

Canada.ca listed 177 days as processing times for inland WP.

Healthcare professions are not fast tracked since most aren’t licensed to practice in Canada. Highly skilled IT workers tend to qualify for faster processing.
