I'm applying inland and I would like to know for certain if I must have the test done with the application or can I wait for CIC to ask me for it.

How does that work exactly?

You can wait for CIC to request it, but it will cause a delay in your processing.

Your call...if you do it up front and you do not leave Canada after the medical, the results do not expire (the doctor that did mine told me this). If you do it up front, it's in the pack and no holdup when the medical stage comes up. If you wait, then CIC will send a request to you, you take the letter, do the medical, and a few days later the doctor sends your results to CIC...obviously while this is going on your application is in limbo.

Cost should also be a factor...if you can afford the cost now, or find a good deal...I would do it. If you can't afford the cost (mine was $400) then wait until they ask.

I haven't either. I thought it was 1 year they expired. However, I would guess that remaining in Canada after the test has been conducted, you may not have to complete it again -- again, just a guess.

Well I thought it was wrong when it was said, I have done very limited research on it and it does seem to be the case if you are from a country with a decent Health system, and you don't leave the Canadian Health area after clearance.

The doctor concerned is an Immigration specialist, I was able to get an appointment with them at a days notice, as that seems to be all that they do (must be good money in it), so I would surmise they know the medical rules side of things better than me... and I did not ask the question, they told me.

That's why I state the doctor told me...I'm happy to believe it, but if asked to do another medical I wouldn't be that upset.

It doesn't make any sense, since the exam is the same for Outland applicants. Does your doctor think that if they leave Canada, their exam is invalid too?

Many Outland applicants apply from within Canada, including having the medical exam in Canada.
