My question is:

If we are so blessed that we are granted first stage approval, how long will it be until the application is complete when our child is overseas waiting to hear if he can join us?

(I'm assuming the process is a little longer in this instance)

Any insight or personnal experiences would be appreciated.

First stage takes 6-9 mths from date of submission.

I submitted in Dec 09 but submitted all evidence if Feb 2010.

Just got approval of Spouse letter been told AIP will follow for me shortly then it will be 6-12 wks depending on security and background checks

Im sorry , I'm not quite sure i understand the answer. Do you mean 6-12 weeks until the application is finalised and our son will obtain a visa to come here?

Yes after you get your AIP it will take 6-12 weeks for the finalizing of the PR once you get yours. Your son will be able to join you.. I wish you good luck with your case :)

Unfortunately, not always so, it depends on where Inland the applicant is living.

Some local offices can take as long as 6 months, from AIP to landing. Some, as little as 2 weeks.

And I am a little confused, if your dependent is on the application, they will be required to attend the landing interview, so therefore must be in Canada. If, however, you did not declare the dependent on the initial application, you are not entitled to sponsor them anyway.

Could you clarify the situation please?

Once the CPC has made the initial determination of the PA’s membership in this class, the appropriate visa office is
contacted for the processing of any overseas family members.
When the visa office has received the paper file from the CPC-V for any family members who are
to be assessed abroad for eligibility and admissibility, it will do the following:
• forward an Application for Permanent Residence in Canada [IMM 0008EGEN] to each family
member, with a time limit by which they must respond;
(In my case they contacted in 1 week after my AIP)
• open the appropriate file for each case;
(Just now Im waiting for this step)...

The application of the principal applicant in Canada cannot be finalized without the results of the
visa office processing of any family members residing abroad.
(So while CIC-V checking me, visa office will check my child).

I was wondering... Our case is where my step son is in carribean. I have heard a little (not much) that they take a least a few months on their end to process the child. I hope not too long in our case.

The situation is: My husband and I married in Canada and did an inland application...I applied to sponsor my husband and his son who is overseas waiting for the appliaction to be completed.

Hopefully my husband is granted PR and then my step son will be granted a visa so he come to canada and land as well.

My question was about if anyone knows a appromiate time line for this or if they have had a similar experience.

Thank you for your response

Ahhhh sorry, I didn't fully understand the full situation.

And this is something I have not experienced, as I applied Inland with my dependent, so have little information to offer.

I think another poster has given you the link for more information.

Good luck and I hope everything goes quickly for you all.
