So I got a letter from CIC-V it says
" this letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the spouse or common law partner in Canada class
We are pleased to advice you that processing of your application has been completed. The canada immigration centre in Scarborough will contact you concerning your permanent residence status.


I'm so happy.... it took precisely 9months after AIP. Good luck to everyone.


Does anyone know how long does it take Scarborough office to contact me???

I am waiting for last three months since got my AIP. So it seems that i have to wait atleast 8 months. It might come before that if i am lucky. Can someone give me the link for FOSS notes plz ?

I just missed a call from a blocked number this morning... hope it was from CIC.

Does anyone know in what cases CIC actually give you a call?

Btw, I'm waiting for my 2nd stage approval since my AIP on June 25th 2011.

I wonder if the call center would know if someone tried to call you.

I think CIC do call you in very rare cases when something is urgent. Most of the time they correspond through eCAS or mail. I recently spoke to one of the call center agent and he pretty much told me that if there are any missing information on an application they will just toss it aside and wait until the applicant to call in, at least that was the case for me. They have been sending me correspondence through mail informing me about AIP, medical exam, and landing interview but when it comes to mailing me my PR card they don't have an address for me. So I had to call in to update my address or else I would be sitting here waiting until Christmas.

You can either apply inland and send either an extension of stay, open work permit, or study permit with your application to be processed apon receiving AIP (this would give you implied status until you get AIP) Or you can apply outland and then apply for a visitor extension before his visitor status expires which is usually 6 months from arrival (you should include proof that he has submitted a PR application like a receipt or AOR letter with your application. Applicants can usually get there visitor extended to the length of time it will take to process the PR application).
