Why can't you go home? My husband is in a work permit too, and he is going out of Canada all the time...
. I am not from a visa exempt country. They say that even if i have work permit i still need a visa to come in here again. And a visa officer might reject me if i apply a "temporary visa". Ofcourse they will see on their system that i have an application for a "permanent residency". :(

Hello Deezy,

I am from Ottawa as well, got DM in Sep, but still not receive the landing letter

Hey did you at least get a letter in the mail confirming DM? Or was it just from Ecas?

. We did not try applying visa because for sure they will just refuse it. If my son applies there is no reason that he will still come back to the philippines because i am here already. So for sure they will just reject the application. :(

Maybe is worth giving a try....maybe they won't refuse your son... you won't know unless you try!!

I will try! Thank you for the advise! :)

Sometime in September we received the mail invitation for landing interview scheduled for October 3rd.

We went through the interview, were asked if "ever been deported" and "have criminal record in Canada."

Now officially landed, just waiting for PR card to arrive.

Please update my status, thanks! Good luck to the rest of you guys.

Oh, we went through the Vancouver office.

I wish this will cheer you guys up!

CIC received our application on August 8, 2011.
Sometime over the long weekend (happy Canada Day!) The status was changed to "decision made" for sponsorship application status, and "in progress" for permanent residence application status.

We sent our application to Vegreville, AB. CIC did request a client history update and it was sometime early in February, 2012.

Further, for those of you living in BC - once you lived here for longer than six months, apply for your health insurance immediately! We received the care card in November, 2011. My spouse arrived Vancouver in February, 2011 and we traveled for two weeks in May.

Almost forgot to mention - we used the old form without those bar codes.

Hi everyone,
I got my letter from the Vegreville office today! It states that the processing of my application has been completed and that my local office (Vancouver) will contact me concerning my permanent resident status. It also says I will need to bring my original identification document(s) to my appointment and a final decision concerning being granted permanent resident status will be made at the time of my appointment.

Now I wait to hear from the Vancouver office. I really hope they're quick!!!

Have a great weekend everyone! :)

A general update form to fillout about job, affiliation, education, work history. Mine was requested since the date of application. Other applicants might have to fill this formas well if they have some info missing.

Usually for background/security check.
