@ gracie: applying for a temporary work permit should not be an issue, I've renewed mine when I got a new contract after sending in the PR application together with the OWP application. I'm assuming you already have a work permit when you're on maternity leave right now, so yours would likely be a renewal as well, but even if it's a completely new job, it shouldn't be an issue if you have an LMO.
@ kama: OMG they are working on September already? We're only 3 months away then from our date, I can't believe we're finally coming this close now! My family is desperate, because I'm supposed to be the one with the career while DH wants to be a stay-at-home-dad to our little girl, so we really need that OWP asap.
In the meantime, I haven't given up on sending out job applications whenever I see something coming up, and I actually had an interview last week. It went great and I loved the place, but it would yet again only be a temp job, and I'm now just waiting for that dreaded email/phone call telling me "we really liked you but we don't want to go through the hassle of applying for an LMO. Have a nice life.".
I sooooo hope this is going to improve when we get PR- I wish the best of luck for all of us, we deserve it after the long wait! And I'm already more lucky than most people, working right now (albeit in a low paying job, and it really IS time for me to move on now if want to have a career eventually).
