Hello,

Does anybody know after how long, normally, we will receive the open work permit if we apply for it along with an inland PR application for Quebec? Will it be at the same time when they issue you the AIP?

Thank you.

Hi,

I applied inland for Quebec along with open work permit.
They received my application on August 24, 2009.
Started to process on Oct 5, 2009.
Decision made on March 24, 2010 was shown on Ecas.
And around 8 days later, I received a letter (AIP+Decision Made) and open work permit together.
Hope it helps you... ;D

Thanks for your reply! And congrats, so you just received your open work permit! I sent my application in mid-Sept 2009, hopefully I'm getting that very soon!!

So, you received your AIP BEFORE or AFTER making the application to MICC?

oh sorry, I just understood from another thread that you received the first letter in Dec 2009 inviting you to proceed with MICC. Your case is a bit faster than mine I guess, I only received the letter after 6 months!

So, did you have to do anything with regard to your open work permit, like a personal meeting/interview to stamp your passport or something in order to activate the work permit? Or you can start working immediately with the document? It would be very very helpful for me to know, thanks for your time to answer me!!

When I received my open work permit, it looks like a visa.
No interview or stamp on my passport.
But I applied my SIN card right away at the same day I received my work permit.. ;D
(the lady there told me it took 2-3 weeks for the card arrival.)
I think we need SIN to land a job..

So, you're waiting for your PR card without much worry now :) May I know where you're originally from? One's origin must affect a lot one's application...

I don't have AIP yet but I will go out of Canada in 2 months, that's why I asked all these questions to estimate whether I'd be able to at least get an OWP before leaving and whether there's any problem if I'm not here when they send me the OWP.

I wish you will then find a job with much ease! Thanks for your reply.

Now I'm waiting for my interview letter, hope it'll arrive very soon! (I'm from Taiwan.)

Are you sure that you'd like to go out of Canada when you applied inland??!!!
It's risky that you may not be able to re-enter to Canada and they'll cancel your application.
I have multi-entry tourist visa but I won't take any chance...
Just let you know that on my open work permit, it shows "This does not authorize re-entry".
So I'd suggest you won't go out of canada until you get your PR card. Good luck! :)

yes, I know I'll take risk but the other opportunity is equally important for me, I think I'll regret for a long while if I give that up because of the inland application. it's strange that it's indicated on the owp " this doesn't authorise re-entry", does it mean "this doesn't guarantee re-entry" actually? i kind of expected the risk would be more or less the same even if i have an owp in hand but at least, i could show the IO that my application has been half way approved, so hopefully, i won't be so unlucky to meet a mean IO! otherwise, I really can't see any strong reason WHY they would refuse me if I actually get an invitation letter from another country inviting me to go and work for a short time...this is supposed to be a good thing for an applicant, right, does Canada want more qualified people to settle here? plus, i don't have financial difficulties either, if one can travel as they want, that proves he/she is in a good financial condition, that's what i think.

by the way, I'm from Hongkong! Are you living in Montreal? Maybe we've met before? :)

Re: open work permit

Hi guys,

can you tell me how you applied for an open work permit? All the sites and info I read (the official Canada visa sites) tell me that I have to have a job offer to apply. But I have heard from other immigrants that you can in fact obtain an open work permit, and clearly you have, so I hope you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
e

Hello Guys,
Has anybody idea, how long it takes time to get PR by applying inland for sponsoring common in law inside Quebec?
Can the sponsored person exit Canada during first step of evaluation?
About police certificate of my own country, I have one that is from 2 years ago which I exit my country and during these 2 years I just come back for 3 weeks. Is it acceptable?
Thanks
