Informing the Immigration Office about a change in Family Composition

Can someone help me how to inform the immigration office regarding a change in my family composition? i am a live in caregiver here in canada and my eldest dependent child, aged 20, got pregnant and is expected to give birth on june. we haven't received our letter of acknowledgement that the office have received our application. You don't inform them, until the child is born. if your daughter is married or in a C/law relationship you inform them now.

Thanks for the immediate response Sir/mam. you sure? because all the blogs i have read state that when a family member got pregnant while the application is on process, they immediately inform the immigration office so that they would know the corresponding actions regarding the medical exams and the documents required.

If you get passport requests and you realize that she will not be able to land until after the baby is born, you would not send your passports but inform that that she is pregnant and that you will have to wait for the birth to add her baby to your application.

If you do not get a passport request, you can wait to tell them until the baby is born in which case you contact them and say you want to add her baby.

Thanks leon. By the way, what passport requests are you referring to? My family in the philippines have passed all the necessary documents listed on the application kit which includes a copy of their passport. As for now, they are waiting for the acknowledgment of receipt letter from the immigration office since they submitted their application last june 2013

My family in the philippines have passed all the necessary documents listed on the application kit which includes a copy of their passport. As for now, they are waiting for the acknowledgment of receipt letter from the immigration office since they submitted their application last june 2013

At some point, the visa office will ask for their actual passports in order to issue their PR visas. That is what I meant by passport request. If you get such a request, don't send the passports but inform them of the pregnancy. If the baby is born before you get the passport request, inform them right away.

You could also inform them of the pregnancy now if you want to but you can not add the baby until the baby is born and you have a birth certificate.

Do I need to have medical exam? Deadline to comply will be on June or should I wait until my baby is born? Pls enlighten me. Would the other dependents can still go to Canada even without me? Or they still need to wait until I give birth? Im not yet married or anything. Thank you.

If you go for the medical, they will likely give the option of waiting until the baby is born or having the x-ray with a led apron to protect the baby. If you prefer to wait, you need to inform the visa office about your pregnancy and ask for more time to complete the medical. Aside from that, your baby will have to be added to the application when it's born.

They will not issue visas for your family members while your case is pending.

If I go to the option of having xray with apron,do i still need to inform cic?Does this means it would not delay the process,what are the cons? If I wait until the baby is born, do we(dependents)delay too their medical exams. We are need to comply on June. Do anyone knows who conducted xrays on pregnant women in the Philippines?

It could not be ANY doctor. Look at www.ic.cic.ca what doctor is allowed to do medical tests for CIC .

The Handbook for medicals states that it is your decision whether you do the x-ray at this time or not, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/dmp-handbook/appendix-02.asp

A woman of reproductive age should be asked the date of her last menstrual period to assess whether or not she is pregnant. Should the possibility of pregnancy exist, and after appropriate counselling, the applicant should determine whether she wishes to undergo chest x-ray examination or to defer it. The decision is totally the applicant’s and no recommendation should be made by the DMP.

If the applicant declines to undergo a chest x-ray on account of the pregnancy, then a chest x-ray should be obtained and submitted after delivery, even though this will delay the IMA process. If the applicant elects to undergo an x-ray examination, abdominal shielding must be used.

However, also keep in mind that should you get your visas before the baby is born and you arrive in Canada before the baby is born, depending on your mothers province, you may not have health care and could end up in the situation that you have to pay for the delivery out of pocket. If you give birth before getting the visa, you must inform the visa office immediately to add the baby to the application. You may have to show that you have full custody of the baby or that the father of the baby allows the immigration.
