Hi,

Please help:

1. Do I have to inform Ottawa (CEC) about my renewal of my wp? The existing wp has expired in december 2012 I hve applied for extension of my stay as a tourist 30 days before expiry and also applied for bridging open wp in mid of december 2012, 15 days before the expiry. I could not apply for a bridging open wp, 30 days before as they announced it in Dec.
The wp that Ottawa has on my file has been expired. I know that I have to inform them about the changes in my personal circumstances, such as marriage but do they consider the above as personal circumstance? Will this affect my landing? What do I hav to proove when landing?

2. If I am on implied status (please read above) and I need a visa to enter USA, can I book a vacation for example to Cuba for few days and can I complete my landing when returning at Toronto Airport? Even if I have only an implied status? ???

Please help!!!

Thanks!!!

Hi Islington,

As per what I understand you have applied to renew your work permit but have not received the new work permit from cic. is that correct?

If so yes you are on implied status. As far as change in circumstances with the new bridge work permit that you were able to apply for after applying for a visitor, CIC would be able to give you the most correct answer as these are new rules they have. You can call them at 1-888-242-2100. If you attached a seperate explanation when applying for the work permit to cic that would be helpful. If not you'd rather clear out what to expect by calling them.

You cannot re enter on implied status. this is because your TRV would've been valid until your work permit was valid. And although you can stay on implied status you have no documentation that is valid to re-enter the country(i.e valid study permit/work permit/extended stay as a visitor etc). You will have to wait to receive either your new visitor visa or apply for a TRV after getting your renewed work permit.

Hope this was somewhat helpful.

Thanks for your answer ssparkles!

I should have been more specific..

I am talking about informing a Cic office in Ottawa dealing with Canadian Experience Class applications...I have recieved a passport reuquest and I am not sure if I have to inform them about my current immigration status. When I applied my wp was still valid, meanwhile expired, implied status..
My and my spouse's implied status is giving me the confusion when landing....I am aware of the fact that I can't enter to Canada with implied status. I'll have my pr visa stamped anyways.. I am just worried about the immigration office..I do not know if he wil lask for our WP? and if he will and I missed to inform Ottawa about the change in my immigration status I am affraid they won't grant me a PR status...

I hope it is more clear now...

Thank you!!!! :)

if you have received your passport request and if you have a US visa, go to detroit and receive a same day visa and you re-enter to Canada. the passport request is what Detroit is expecting to provide you your visa. If you do not have the US visa., send your passport by mail to Detroit with the documents asked. To stamp your visa they do not need your currrent permit( for my understanding.) they only need your passport and photos(? needs confirmation here)

Thanks rosty2,

I have to send my passport to Ottawa and not to Detroit..I do not need a work permit to get the visa stamped but I am not sure if I have to inform anyone about the change in my immigration status...(from wp to implied status)

I do not have visa to USA and I am not from a visa exempt country..So I am trying to find another fast solution for landing,,,

Thanks!!! :)

You do not have to inform CIC regarding your status change from WP to Implied status. This information would be available in their system. By personal circumstances, CIC is referring to information that may affect your application and which they have no way of knowing unless you inform them on time (like change in marital status, birth of a child, new qualifications aquired, change in address etc).

You can do your landing when you return even though you are on implied status. Or try flag-poling like so many others have done in this forum.
