Hello friends!

I am going to visit a friend in ON. This is gonna be my first time visit in abroad. I am considering to visit ON and applying for one month TRV. I am single and have around CAD 6000 which I can show in papers. I am working in a good job here so definitely will come back to India as I have ties here ( job responsibility)

So, if I apply for one month TRV, will I be given only one month visit visa or can it be for some more months say three , four six months?

Say, I am given one month TRV, can I seek extension once I'm there on my TRV? If yes, when should I apply for extension and where from?

PS: Please reply as I am soon going to apply for the visa.

Many thanks in advance!

You can apply for extension of the visit once in Canada, not the visa. The officers usually give 6 months validity for the TRV. Allowed visit usually is 6 months.

Thank you for your reply, Job-seeker :)

As far as I seem to have understood from your post : My TRV will be valid for six months. However, my visit may be shortened say for a month or two and I can seek extension of my visit only that too only upto six months.

Please correct me if I am wrong there.

if I apply for 40-45 days visit, will I still be given TRV of full six months? If that's the case I wont have to seek extension at all since I aint willing to live there for more than 2-3 months.
Regards :)

If granted a TRV, it normally is valid for 6 months, meaning you have to use the visa and come to Canada or you would have to apply for another visa (TRV) if you had not used it within its validity period. Once you used the TRV and came to Canada, you would normally be allowed a 6 month stay from the date of your arrival, even if you requested for a shorter stay.
