Will anybody be kind enough to share what a GIC certificate looks like?

Does the GIC certificate show what account number was used to transfer money to Scotia Bank?

I have two bank accounts where I am the sole operator and a joint one with my mother which neither of use.

Can I deposit 10k CAD in that account and use that account to buy the GIC but omit the bank statement for that account while filing for visa?

Please advice!

GIC supports two banks one is ICICI CANADA and SCOTIA BANK, you have to open an GIC account in one of the banks and after that they confirm your account and they will give you full details like account number and how you have to transfer the money.
After you transfer money to your GIC account, In GIC INVESTMENT BALANCE CONFIRMATION they will give your name and address then registered email Id,and
Acccount holder name:
Account number:
Currency:
Balance as of now:

Being a personal Document I wouldn't like to share it, but I will answer your questions thoroughly :D

No it doesn't. It's called Investment Directions and has your name, address and GIC a/c number with the deposit amount of
CAD 10000 and Interest rate on it which in my case is .05%

GIC A/c has to be in your name or jointly held with parents. To be on the safe side my parents opened sole account in my name only
If you want to omit bank statement for that a/c it's your choice

Please advice!
Advised. Hope this helps ;)

Yes I did. No harm in having one extra doc on VO's table :)

I wanted to avoid showing bank statements from that account.

I'm planning to have my sister transfer money into that account from the US.

If I show that statement I'll need to explain the source of funds and then bring in her letter of support, tax returns, salary slips, etc etc

So I wanted to avoid all that paperwork and keep it simple with my financial statements, my mother's financial statements, GIC certificate and loan approval letter

Keep it simple. You are on the right track. My situation was different to yours. Good Luck.

Bro, at the end of the day you got to make this decision. If I was you I would still provide it
because a Sis can always help her brother and CIC shouldn't have problem with that. The only
requirement as to bank statement is 4 months for funds to be sitting there.

Good Luck.
