It's just a blog post, which is different from a news article. My heart jumped initially cause I thought there was a new change again, but it's just a regurgitated blog post. I'm not saying the article is wrong but it is hardly recent.

there r lot of articles criticizing express entry system out there i just want to bring focus to problems of international students. I also want to give tips to international students before deciding to get canadian education. it is not worth it. i spent $26k on just education and have a job but still i cant get PR most probably once my PGWP runs out i will have to leave canada. think about people who dont get a skilled(NOC 0,A, B) job. Hence the pointers on how to go about the whole process. There r still agents/consultants in countries like india who give false hope to young students who r not aware of situation here. someone on this forum has started a petition for bringing problems of international students to light

The article has reason to be alarmist.

The situation is in fact quite dire for many international students who have recently graduated and are now facing the new rules. Last year, all you needed was one full year of skilled work experience in Canada after finishing your studies and PR was pretty much guaranteed. That's definitely no longer the case now. It's become much more difficult.

I agree it has become much more difficult. A lot of us are aware of the challenges already, although I suppose I have been in this forum for quite a while. Someone new or just planning to do so will find this helpful, I guess

i have no idea why you decided to link me to that, dude. Obviously suicide is not a laughing matter, but that is more of a unique case than the norm and has no relation to what I'm trying to tell you. Guess you're hell bent on making your point that Canada is bad bad bad so I'll leave you to it.

it has relation to what i am trying to say to international students . situation is not rosy and international students should plan ahead than just jumping blindly going for canada education and be prepared. u can see from the post people r so desperate to get PR and now its difficult. so u see new students should be prepared hence my pointers and tips/warnings. I am trying to educate international students what they may face . i am not saying canada is bad bad bad i am saying express entry system for PR is bad bad bad and international students should be prepared. again look at my pointers.


Here are just a few pointers for international students who are aiming for canadian education and later canadian PR.
1. Try to get atleast 1 year skilled experience outside canada helps ur points for express entry. 0 experience in home country puts u behind on points for PR
2. Read about PNP of the province ur going too
3. Improve ur english . higher the english language skills better chances of PR
3. Aim for better education, example rather than PG diploma go for masters if u can, this will give u more points for PR
4. always go for a 3 year PGWP with new PR rules it will almost be impossible to get PR in 1 year unless u have a LMIA.
5. choose a skilled profession(NOC 0,A,B).
6. use the CRS calculator to find out where u stand with regards to PR http://www.canadavisa.com/comprehensive-ranking-score-calculator.html
450 and above points are better. below 450 u will have hard time getting PR under express entry.
7. If you can improve ur French it would help u for PR.
8 read about Express entry program http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/express/express-entry.asp

these are a few pointers other people may add more but without thinking above point do not just jump in for canadian education it has now become very difficult to get PR so plan ahead
