Hey all,

Its been awhile since I've posted here as the information i receive here is helpful and guides me well.
I am finally going to be eligible to apply for citizenship at the ending of August 2013. I will acquire about 1125days by then.
My question was if I leave canada to move to the UK within a year after i submit my application, will i jeopardize my citizenship? I will be getting married at the ending of the year and wish to move to the uk with my husband sometime next year. My family and house will still be here so my mailing address will not change. I know processing times for citizenship range from about a year to a year and a half :/

I was just wondering if my leaving will jeopardize me getting my citizenship even in the slightest. Could sometime share some knowledge ?!

Much appreciated !!!

typically most cases given Residence Questionnaire is because CIC not able to verify the 1095 days on the day the application was filed. If you have evidence to prove you are good. Getting married and moving to UK should be fine as your family is here. But you should be prepared to travel for test / interview on short notice..

Well my views will be a little different...i know someone who done that....It is your right to obtain Citizenship after completing 1096 days....Its absolutely legal to move any where you want after applying....RQ is not just given to establish your presence it can be issued just to keep the integrity of the ongoing program. When you are interviewed after the exam the assessment is not just based to evaluate your communication skills but to also monitor your presence in the past but to also know your future plans....one of the triggers of RQ is when you travel without being employed...they sure will ask you about your employment, you will be questioned on how many times you had traveled since you been here, they will check your passport (entry/exit stamps). So in other words IT WILL NOT JEOPARDIZE your citizenship application how ever be prepared for dreaded RQ.

Thanks for the info OKK !!
I really appreciate it !
I'm employed via Contract and I only usually travel in between breaks from contracts.
So roughly out of the four years i've been year, I've travelled about 6 times out of Canada.
I know there is a good chance of getting an RQ either way but my intention is that when i submit my application, i will send all and every bit of evidence to prove clearly my time established in Canada. Is this a wise idea?

really appreciate all the input !

Just make sure you let CIC know that you are moving. According to the CIC you have to call them if you are away for more then 2 months. I do not know how much your leave will affect you application. If you are very Lucky then it won't affect much :) Saying the truth anyone can get RQ, even those who never left Canada (thats what I learned in this forum).

Exactly. There are so many negative people around here that will scare you to death and come up wi all kinds of negative scenarios and make it look like doom and gloom. If you had to leave and earn bread then do what you have to do, if you have played it by the book and have nothing to hide then there is Nothing to worry about.
