Information about Landing after getting PR

I have got PR of canada and preparing to land in canada in August this year. I have some questions regarding landing;
1. Is there any contact info of CIC from where I can confirm about POF. I want to carry bank statement of my home bank account in Pakistani Rupees and carry some 3k dollars for use during initial stay of 10-12 days. Is it ok? Can I confirm it from some official?
2. Is it ok to tell immigration officers that I will leave canada after 10 days and my friend will collect my PR card?
3. Is there any other document in addition to Visa, COPR, POF I need to carry to canada for soft landing?

Will be grateful for help.

Regards

  1. The help line for IRCC is notoriously unhelpful in most cases. You’ll get better information here than if you ask them 99% of the time. Better to post your enquiry here.
  2. Best not to tell them you plan to leave. There have been occasions where IRCC won’t process PR cards if you tell them you are doing a soft landing. Just give them your friends mailing address when you land. They will mail it there.
  3. BSF 186 and 186a (https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/bsf186-eng.html). In particular, 186a (goods to follow) since you’ll be returning later.

Assuming you applied under EE application, the information is here on what they will expect to see available: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/proof-funds.html

If you do bring $10,000 or more with you (whether it’s canadian dollars or some other form of currency equivalent to $10K CDN) make sure you declare it on the landing documents any time you enter Canada. If you don’t, you risk a fine or even forefitting the money. There is no tax paid on any amount you bring, but it needs to be declared.

It is written on website that bank statement is acceptable and based on this info, I used the bank statement to apply under EE. Is it also acceptable at port of entry?

For proof, you must get official letters from any banks or financial institutions where you are keeping money.

Letter(s) must:

  • be printed on the financial institution’s letterhead
  • include their contact information (address, telephone number and email address)
  • include your name
  • list outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans
  • include, for each current bank and investment account:
    • account numbers
    • the date each account was opened
    • the current balance of each account
    • the average balance for the past six months
