Hello,

I am trying to apply for my PR right now, but I only have 434 points, so I need to earn more points.
My work permit expires on July 15, 2019 and I would have 2 years of work experience that will add me points on July 24, 2019.
I am from Ukraine, so I guess I can get a work permit under International Experience Canada as Ukraine and Canada have an agreement.
I fall under category Young Professionals and I currently have a job in Canada.
My question is: can I get this work permit extension with IEC if my open 3 year work permit expires, as I know that the max years you can get is 3, does this also apply to IEC?

First, let's put this to rest. Currently, there is no maximum number of years you can work on a work permit. The policy changed. (Of course, it can change again at any time).

Have you considered applying for an EE/ Provincial nominee program?

That may be a good option as well.

ERG. sorry, you are referring to the PGWP, not the maximum number of years a person can work in Canada. There is still a limit on the # of years you can get on a PGWP. But there's nothing stopping you (if you qualify) from getting another kind of work permit, and continuing to work in Canada.

IEC... LMIA-approved TWP...
