I landed Toronto in 2011, got my PR card and came back after one month. Now I am planning to move there permanently in 2014 but I came to know through a website that I will not be elgibile for the Health Insurance as I am out of Canada for a long period. That was exactly what I read:

"
To be eligible for ongoing OHIP coverage you must be an eligible resident of Ontario. This means that you must:
•be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or hold an OHIP-eligible immigration document; and
•be physically present in Ontario for 153 days in any 12-month period; and
•be physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residency in the province; and
•make your primary place of residence in Ontario "

Does that I mean I wont be able to get the Health Insurance ever if I move permanently over there?

Any experienced fellow or seniors on this forum, please share if you know any other details regardiing this concern.

hi omeee,

your OHIP coverage have been canceled of course due to not been present in Ontario for the period specified above.
once you come back to ontario you just have to apply again for your OHIP coverage and you should be fine getting it again but you have to abide by their rules this time to avoid further issues with the health care departement.

welcome back to canada :)

Thank u so much CanadaVisa13 ... :)
After you return to Canada, you'll have to wait three months and live in Canada during those three months to qualify for OHIP again. Make sure you purchase insurance to cover yourself for this three month wait time.
