Do we get any stamp or other indication of student permit from India on our passport other than the LOI (other than the TRv) as my travel agent told me that if we don't have any stamp or other such thing indicating the student permit the immigration people won't let us board the flight. Help will be appreciated.

All we get in the passport is the TRV sticker, also LOI is mailed along with the passport.

Yeah that's what I told him he said he called cic who told him that we need a stamp other than the TRV and LOI on passport else they won't let me board the flight...... So I'm worried. Also, if u do know, does an Indian passport holder need a transit visa for UK if I have a connecting flight with a 5 hour transit stay time ?

See all you need to board the flight is a valid VISA and a study permit. That's it. The LOI has to be shown to the border agency officer at your POE in Canada. You don't need a transit visa for UK unless you're planning to leave the airport and have a quick tour. But in your case as you have only 5 hours time in between you won't be able to leave the airport for any sightseeing. So you don't require any transit visa.

at indian airport once u check in u pass through indian immigration. they will ask ur purpose of visit and ask for ur passport, visa /LOI / may be ur admission letter thats it and they will stamp on ur passport that ur leaving the country. so as long as u have a visa, LOI and admission letter u r fine.

I'm sorry. My bad. I meant to say the LOI only. Not the study permit. You only need LOI + TRV to board a flight. Once you show the LOI to the border agency officer, he'll issue you your original study permit.

Haha ;D I'm sorry i have no answer to this question of yours as I'll be landing in Canada for the first time. So in this case you've more experience than me as you've already been to Canada a couple of times :)
