Indian passport surrender

Hey!
I applied at Vancouver location on Feb 24th without a Canadian passport and there weren't any issues. I got my SC in two weeks. I called them and confirmed beforehand if I needed a Canadian passport and they said I didn't need one for one Vancouver location. This was in Feb!

wow!! i didn't have a CA PP, and had some issue with my form cos of which they sent me back on 16Feb. when i went back with the correction on 17Feb, they said they've stopped taking applications without a CA PP! in fact now even the online forms/instructions appear modified to show this. this was Brampton.

yes, expecting SC by mid/late April. i started filling in the online application for OCI but (see my queries and @abbas.pasha ke comments in the OCI thread) i decided to stop till the SC is issued.

uploading photos, signature and documents online has clearly spelt out specifications for dimensions and file size, that you can see when you visit the OCI website.

I'll be taking my oath on May 9th, following which I'll wait for my citizenship certificate, apply for Canadian passport, and surrender Indian passport following receipt of Canadian passport, followed by OCI application.
Overall, in your experience, what would be the overall processing time following the oath?

best case 15 weeks, worst case 24 weeks to get your OCI after your oath
citizenship cert best/worst: 1 - 2 weeks
CA PP best/worst: 2 - 4 weeks
IN PP SC best/worst: 4 - 6 weeks
OCI best/worst: 8 - 12 weeks

sorry, there's no "worst". you surely will take minimum 15 weeks if your processing is ideal at each stage. worst, especially when the ball is in the BLS court, no one knows.

Thanks! I have a trip to India coming up towards the end of October.
Not sure if I can still book tickets using my Canadian passport when I have it, and get an eVisa as I wait for the OCI?

Airlines don't ask for visa details while booking.

Hello everyone, sharing my experience for SC submitted in person on March 8th at BLS Brampton. I had an appointment for 8:40 and reached by 8:35 . Everything looked good until this gem of a lady named Shweta said the photographs were not ok and me being such a nice person went all guns blazing and asked her to get something to measure the dimensions . She got even more nicer and I became more friendly with her when she said she wont provide service to me. Then some other guy came up to me and asked about the matter and after knowing everything he said the pictures are good. upon checking today my status on the passport website says that "Surrender certificate has been granted and is available for issuance". and while leaving i told this Shweta lady that she needs to be less friendly with the people coming for any service to which she nodded yes.

How much time it would take to get the SC reach to me ? any idea guys?

Not sure how you were able to book an appointment with BLS; I have been trying since last couple weeks and no success
