Indian passport renewal on sponsorship application

Hi,
You can apply for PCC even if you are out of status. They ask for a copy of your expired WP and fee receipt for the PR application that you have applied for under whatever program you qualify for.

Anybody who is in similar situation, we were able to apply for passport renewal while being out of status. We had to write an email to the Indian consulate requesting for permission to apply for passport renewal. We had to attach AIP(Approval in Principle) with the Principal Applicant name. When filing for the application, we had to print the email reply from the Consulate giving us an approval to apply.

At this time, IRCC does require a valid passport with 12 month validity. We were requested to update the passport just 2 weeks from today.

I have a similar sotuation. I applied in January for my spouse and i was in thought that I might not need passport.Turns out I needed to renew. I renewed the passport but could not get on time and my spouse is out of status. Do you know if they were to finalize our application for sponsorship how long do they take once I submit new passport.9
