Indian Passport Renewal in Vancouver

Hello,

If anyone has experience renewing Indian passport in Vancouver, please help me with the following questions:

1. Do I have to submit a copy of my study permit or original or both? If I have to submit copies, do they have to be certified/notarized?
2. If my address in India has changed, do I have to submit any documents for this?
3. What form of payment is accepted for the application?
4. How long does the Tatkal service take?

I cannot figure out the above questions from the CGI Vancouver website. I will appreciate all your help.

I can't find information regarding Tatkal applications on the blsindia site either. Would you know where I can find that? Thanks!

Hi,
I renewed my passport from CGI Vancouver thro' VFS in last Dec 12. I got it with in 20 days(Not April fool!).
I had to attach
(i) VFS took my Original work-permit
(ii) If my address in India has changed, do I have to submit any documents for this? ==> I think you don't need. Your Canada address will be new address
(iii) I paid thro' visa to VFS
(iv) 20 days only!!! Excellent service!

Hi!

Just wondering if there's an update on this / if anyone's recently done it through BLS and received their new passport. Mine's a handwritten one that I sent for renewal 5 weeks ago.

Just to update everyone:
I got my passport renewed in exactly 1 month and 4 days. I submitted original study permit and I paid using credit card. I did not submit any document for change of Indian address and my passport has my Canadian address.

Regarding Tatkal service I found out that it only applies in special cases and the passport is issued only for 2 or 3 years. Hence, I didn't apply under tatkal service.

Once you apply and your application is in progress, do you have to submit your old passport for a few weeks ? I need my old passport to be on me at all times because I frequently need to travel for work to the US.
