Finally I got it.

Applied 25 July 2014
First status change 30 July 2014 ( processing to consolute)
Second status change 29 Aug 2014 (Dispatched via Courier)
Received via Fed Ex 2 Sept 2014 ( home delivery, signed by person)

Excellent job by Indian gov.

Only issue is I wanted my indian address on passport but they printed my canadian address. Well I have to deal with it now.

Good to know that you got renewal passport in 6 weeks.

I have mentioned India address which has similar to passport one. However, I have also mentioned Canada address in other address field in online forms.

Actually, I am not sure which address (India/Canada) they are going to provide in new passport.

Any other guys have faced similar issue that you mentioned both address in Online forms but General consulate of India has provided Canadian Address in renewal passport.

Delivered :18th Sep

Yes ,and strange thing is passport issue date in my passport is mentioned as 01/09/2014, so that means they were done with my passport in 10 days ..
not sure if that was the case or not ...

1) My passport expires May 21, 2016, do I have to wait till May 21 this year to apply for re-issue or can I do it earlier by mid-May?

2) What happens with the active visa & work permit which has my old passport number. Does it become void?

3) While applying for re-issue of passport do we need to submit original work permit & passport? Do we get the old passport back?

4) Whats the latest processing time?

1. First time you left India that could be Canada or any other country
2. Addresses can be anywhere. However, I suggest to provide one in India and second in Canada
