Did anyone get this text after police verification was done? It's been 10 days and no changes to the passport status.

Dear Applicant , Your Passport Verification is done and report is submitted to RPO MUMBAI - MUMBAI POLICE

Arrived at Montreal Sorting Facility on 14 Midnight. Hopefully tomorrow I should get it.
I applied for my sons passport from Montreal BLS on September 14th i see now the status in HCI as "Passport sent to OCP executive for further dispatch to applicant" and this has been the status for 2 weeks now.. the status in BLS tracking shows as Processing at high commission. Could not get more information. The lady at the bLS told that the passport will be directly sent to you from the ottawa high commission. Is there a way to check what is happening?

Are you checking your application status only on the BLS website?
Try logging into the passportindia.gov.in page and check the status there. It's the same place where you fill out the passport application form.

Hello everyone, my spouse has submitted the passport for renewal on Sep-29th at BLS, Ottawa (postal). The status on the passport seva website is "Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate."

Can someone help me understand how much time can it take from here to complete? Thanks a lot!

Warm Regards,
AJ

Any idea regarding at what stage status changes to "Passport has been handed over by the Embassy/Consulate to the OSP executive for further dispatch to the applicant." on passport.gov.in website.

I didn't check before, so don't know earlier status

Thanks a lot for sharing this, we have received the police verification mail, but it was just for information no document was requested. Can you please help understand here -" Documents submitted to Police Verification in India (by family)" what was submitted? And is it a mandatory requirement? Thanks a lot!

In my case in Mumbai, the police go to the residence first, check everything, then ask a family member to visit the police station and sign in the register. Too bad they aren't all digital yet. Unless Ottawa is different from Toronto, I'd say, expect 4-6 weeks more before your passport is anywhere close to coming to you. That's presuming police verification is done quickly.

Damm, actually we are waiting for the COPR - just worried if it comes before we can get the renewed passport. Any idea of how to deal with this situation. Thanks!

Hello All,

Trying to get my spouse's passport renewed at Toronto/Brampton as postal application. Couple of Qs:
1. Do we have to send PR card with application package?
2. How many Bank draft do we have to give? 1 or 2?
Checklist says that 2 ( one for HCI/CGI Passport fee + ICWF Consular Surcharge Fee and another for BLS processing Fee + Return courier charges)
This page ( https://www.blsindia-canada.com/new_ppt.php) that single Bank Draft for Passport + Consular Surcharge + BLS Fee
3. I see that there is an option of Pickup and Dropoff of application. Are charges for this service included in above fees or do we pay extra for this?

Thanks in advance for helping

If COPR comes first, write to IRCC and explain and they can tell you what to do.

I tried postal and it was a mess. To be fair, because of me, but still. If you go in person, at least you'll have everything clarified in one shot (hopefully). Anyway, not sure if rules have changed since July when I tried, but:
1. No originals of anything, only copies.
2. I gave one for 110.4 or something. I think I realized later it should have been 2, but they never said anything about it, so I presume it's fine to have one.
3 You pay extra. $40 I think. Even if you go for walk-in, you'll pay for the return courier due to COVID / them wanting to make extra money... You said you're doing postal, so you have to do pickup/dropoff. That's exactly what postal is.

Good luck!

It basically varies for each police station doing the verification. They usually look for your standard ID / address proof type documents. Whether it's mandatory or not, I have no idea. As per my understanding, they have some requirements along with the inevitable bribe for the to push the button on the verification being done. If you don't see any movement on the police clearance part of your application, you can contact the local police station and see what they need.
