You will not get Indian passport for Canadian born child.apply for PIO card for your child. If you revoke Canada citizenship then you may get but not sure.

Hi minu23,

May I suggest, Pls do a thorough research before jumping to conclusion, its a matter of your child's future.

Perhaps, this helps you.
Determine your eligibility – Renouncing citizenship
To be eligible to renounce your Canadian citizenship, you must:

be a Canadian citizen
prove that you are or that you will become a citizen of a country other than Canada if your application to renounce is approved
not live in Canada
be at least 18 years old
not be a threat to Canada’s security or part of a pattern of criminal activity and
understand the significance of renouncing your Canadian citizenship.

You can't revoke the Canadian citizenship of a child. The child can only do this themselves once they are an adult.

That means canada born indian parents child can not apply for Indian passport? Indian law don,t accept dual citizenship. If we apply For PIO, we need to report to police station every 6 months, if the child return back to India later permanently?

1. I read somewhere (not sure; read somewhere OK? ) that you can still apply for Indian passport. a) need to inform indian embassy within 1 year of birth and get some letter from them. b) then apply for indian citizen on the basis that kid's parents are indian. kid will be citizen by registration (not by birth )

2. Modi had announced that rule for reporting police in every six month will be removed soon .

3. They are giving life time PIO now a days, previously it was for 15 year.

PIO is life long validity now already implemented. If you have 15 yes validity PIO already you do not need to renew or anything its still valid.
Indian passport is not given to child born outside Canada to my knowledge.
Well the basic concern is school fees which raised all this so let me clarify something.
Scholl fees is already very high in India so there is no special fees for NRI kids in almost all schools. The difference you will see only in higher studies such as Engg., Medical etc so that time you can send ur kid to Canada. This is my 2 cents and pls ignore if my suggestion hurt anyone's feeling.

If you want to retain Indian citizenship of the child, you need to apply for birth certificate with nearest Indian Embassy on basis of other birth proofs. You could at the same time or even later, apply for Indian Passport for the child on basis that parents have Indian passport, even though child is born outside India. In case you have Canadian citizenship, then the child cannot get Indian passport directly, if the child was born outside India.

Cheers!
