Hello There...

Am a bit confused with all this. Me and my families are born and raise in cape town (South Africa) but I have an indian ancestry (so I look indian and I speak English, Zulu, French, Hindi, Urdu very fluently) ... The man I want to get married to; is originally from India. Pure desi ;) .We met online through mutual friend n been in a long distance relationship for 1.5 year. The problems is, he spoke to his parents about me and they do not agree with this relation because am a foreigner etc and on my side, my family is cool with him. He still want to continue our relation and want to marry me and move out together either in South Africa or Canada (am a citizen of canada). Prior to that, we couldn't meet due financial reason but fufff finally we are going to meet next year in south africa for 2 months, he will be staying in my house and if everything goes well, we would want to get married. (we are both muslims). so nikaah/civil.

My concern is, is that going to cause problem with the Immigration from New Delhi? Because in my home country the bride wear white gown (like indian catholic) and for mehendi they wear (Red/Green lehenga). So i will have both but his parents won't be in our wedding, only my families about 60 peoples. so we will have small reception only.

Will all this raise red flag, I do not want them to think my marriage is not genuine or anything. Can someone advise me?

If I am an immigration officer. I will see 3 things -

1) Online Dating for 1.5 years (Ok but not good) Because never met personally which is very important for a relationship

2) Marrying the same person after 2 months meeting personally (Raise question but many Indian marriages happened like this but they were success with immigration file) It all depend on how you present your file.

3) His parents not attending marriage (They might think that you the people want to hide your marriage from the rest of the world)

Again - It's all depend on your file presentation.

Good luck

Hi eeza.
Wooow, you got pretty much the same story as mine. We been together since august 2012, and we are meeting june or august 2014. Was your family on the wedding? and did you perform your religious marriage too?

This has gave me hope. Thank you so much.

It will raise red flags. The New Delhi visa office is one office where the marriage ceremony and reception is considered very important. If you were applying through another country, I would say it would not matter, but for New Delhi it does.
However, with red flags, the thing to do is to explain any issues or problems in the application.
So have the kind of ceremony you want and that is appropriate in your culture, but any place where it differs from the typical Muslim ceremony in India, explain that it is done like this in South Africa. Do all the rituals and ceremonies and receptions that would be expected in your culture, and get photos of everything. Invite as many people as you can, and get photos that prove the number of guests. Either one shot showing the whole crowd, or separate shots of you and your husband posing with each table of guests would be OK.
Have as many relatives as possible. If his parents will not come, can other relatives from his side attend? If the parents are not there, you will have to explain why. You can still be approved if the reason is they do not approve, but explain there attitude and how you two have considered it and have decided it does not change your love for each other.
