Dear Senior Members - Can anyone help me with my current situation.

I got the MR and RPRF on Jan 21, 2015. However, CIC also asked me to submit recent PCC from India. I live in New York for the past few years and my passport was also renewed from New York in Jan 2014. The Indian Consulate, NY website states that I can get same day service since my passport was issued in New York.

However, when I went to the Consulate on Jan 30, 2015, they told me they could not give me a PCC since they had not got a clearance from Delhi Regional Passport Office. Upon further inquiry over the next few days, I found out that this is because my original passport was issued via tatkal in 2004 from Delhi. It has been more than 10 years since I left Delhi and my family is settled in Kerala.

I called the Delhi RPO in Bhikaji Cama place and the person who picked up the phone said he can't give me any info. I called the New York Consulate and they said they can't give me my application details and to email the HelpLine. I'm utterly confused on what to do. Am I now entirely at the mercy of the Great Indian Bureaucratic Red Tape and can only pray and hope for them to give me a PCC??

I'm supposed to submit all the documents by March 7, 2015 to CIC, I have all the other documents ready except for my PCC. I've requested them to provide me a 30 day extension. However, I'm reading online stories of people who have been waiting for a Indian PCC for the past 6 months. Feeling very disappointed with my India!!!

Any help will be much appreciated!!!

For old indian passport, they will issue PCC after police verification. It will take more time. Better apply PCC directly from police commissioner office from your area in India. It will be faster.

Thank you ttrajan for your response!

I'm trying to get the PCC directly from the commissioner office, but I'm being told that it is a three step process, which includes obtaining a proof of residence from the panchayat office. However, the panchayat office requires me to be present in person in order to provide the proof of residence. Is this an absolute requirement or every panchayat is different?

Please let me know if you know the answer.
Thanking you in advance!

When I applied for PCC last year, police asked me to come personally to police station with a Id proof and school certificate.

This is the greatest ordeal ever:

1. Feb 12 - Called the Indian Consulate, New York to inquire about the status of the PCC. I'm informed that they haven't received a response from Delhi RPO and to call Delhi RPO.
2. Feb 16 - Called the Delhi RPO and they say they have not received anything from Indian Consulate, NY (searched their system by my name and passport)
3. Feb 17 - Called Indian Consulate, NY only to be told that the person responsible for handling PCC requests has taken the day off.
4. Feb 18 - Finally, got to know from the Indian Consulate that an email was sent to Delhi RPO on 2/12 and they will be sending the request again on 2/18 to Delhi RPO
5. Feb 19 - Called Delhi RPO and confirmed with them that they've received an email from the Indian Consulate, NY on 2/18
6. Feb 20 - Followed up with Delhi RPO and I'm told that a response has been sent to Indian Consulate, NY
7. Feb 20 - Called Indian Consulate, NY only to be informed that their system doesn't show a clearance for me. They have not received any response from Delhi RPO and they've checked all emails from 2/18 onwards and to follow up with Delhi RPO.
8. Now it is Saturday in India and I have to wait until Monday morning to follow up.

I left India in 2004 and have only been back for short visits. My passport was renewed in New York. Indian Consulate, NY website states I can receive PCC on same day service.

So far, I've received great customer service from those working at the Indian Consulate and Delhi RPO. They are very helpful but they can only do so much. As all Indians I also blame the 'SYSTEM'!!!! Who else is responsible for this malady??? Clueless, frustrated and flustered!!!! Now I know how a tennis ball probably feels like.

Hi All,

Im really sorry to hear the long wait stories. Infact Im surprised. When i applied for the PCC clearance, it was only like 21day exactly and my PCC was issued from NY consulate. Please head to the NY Consulate and talk to them in person on the Inquiry counter.

All the very best.

After 23 days of waiting for what was supposed to be "same day" service, I got to know from the Indian Consulate that a "CLEARANCE" was provided for my PCC. Feeling ecstatic!!!!

Will be sending all outstanding documents to NDVO today itself via Fedex!!!

Thank you for everyone for your support!!!
