Hey All!

My wife (Indian) is on study permit in Canada since September 3rd 2022. I am an Indian citizen residing and working in Saudi Arabia.

I want to apply for SOWP from Saudi Arabia but some agents are suggesting I apply only from India to avoid rejection and any issues. It is difficult for me to travel to India currently and I want to file it as soon as possible as my wife's course will finish in April 2023.

Any advice from people with Indian citizenship but have experience of applying for SOWP from other countries?

You cannot apply now because she is graduating within 6 months. Your permit is only valid for the time on her permit, and with processing times so long it will be refused. You are only eligible for SOWP if she has more than 6 months left with her course. Wait until she applies for PGWP with a skilled job and apply then.

please apply from India, you have a better chance of you apply from your home country. Find a way to travel back home. There is a high rate of rejection if you apply from your country of residence.

Not for an SOWP. Similar rate of rejection whether in India or KSA. Doesn’t make sense to leave your job and wait in India to see if you are approved for SOWP. As mentioned before you need to have 6 months left on your course to qualify. @arkhan_12 shoukd wait until their spouse has a job in NOC 0, A or B, has applied for PGWP and has 3 pay stubs.

@arkhan_12 Have you recently been married?

You lack the common sense to reply a comment without insults. I did not reply you, I replied the person who posted the question here, not you so fuck off. You haven’t been in such situation before, yet you come in here and type rubbish. We all know getting a SOWP while studying is much easier than when you are on PGWP because getting a Noc B job might not be easy. Yet you come here and reply to everyone’s comment as if you are IRCC.

The OP says the spouse is graduating in April that is in less than 6 months. IRCC will refuse the application. Processing is more than 6 months anyways.

First of all I was not insulting and it is quite hypocritical to use profanity after trying to imply that I was insulting someone. It is actually much harder to get an SOWP when a partner is a student versus on PGWP with job in NOC 0, A or B. I am trying to provide correct information that most people are thankful for. For example returning to India to apply for an SOWP is not necessary. Spouses regularly apply for SOWP from Canada. Given that there is less than 6 months on their study permit there isn’t an option to apply for an SOWP until PGWP.
