Hello everyone,

Hope you all are doing well, I am new to this forum and I tried to find answers to my questions but I failed to find an answer so I am posting a new topic.

Background:
My name is Neel and I am an Indian citizen currently residing in India. I applied to and got an offer letter from International College at Manitoba in their UTP Stage II program. Once I complete one year of this program I will be transferred to second year of my bachelor's degree in University of Manitoba.

Questions:

1) I am planning to apply for my visa this Wednesday (31 July) in India through online application. Now the processing time says that it takes 2 weeks for them to make application decision in Delhi consulate and my orientation is on 28th August, is it a good idea to apply now? or is it too late?

2) How much funds do I have to show? My mother has 24 Lakhs in Savings account + some more money in PFF's and FD accounts. As well as we have some shares and immovable property. One of my cousin is also ready to sponsor me.

3) Is it a good idea to apply online or paper application is better?

4) Do I have to pay my tuition fees before I apply for the visa or a bank draft issued in my College's name will work?

5) If any one has recently applied for a student visa online from India can you please provide documents that you have provided because it gets really confusing to decide between documents required for online application and paper application

6) If any one has applied online for study permit, can you please share your timeline. How much time did it take?

I know there are too many questions, but I would really appreciate if you are able to answer any of them.

I wish luck to all those people who have applied for their visa and my congrats to those who got their visa.

Many Many Thanks,
Neel

in my personal opinion if ur applying to CHC delhi i would suggest u do paper based application ...i think paper based r faster in india but again check for more feed back from other members

Thank you so much for your reply,

So does this mean I have to deposit $10000 before I apply for a visa? and what if my visa is rejected?

I really appreciate your help

there is a GIC option if u read the link u will find out what it is. GIC is optional but it makes ur case a little bit stronger .....a lot of people say paying fees makes ur case strong too . If visa is rejected i believe u get it refunded minus a small processing fee after providing proof of visa refusal not sure of the complete procedure.

Okay, I will look into it and see how it works.

One more quick question, I have completed my Bachelor's in India but I want to do a double bachelor's degree instead of a Master's. Will this make my case weak? because I am doing another bachelor's and not making any progression?

yes it might weaken your case if you are unable to clarify your visions to the VO.

yes it will weaken ur case if its the same field and a mismatch if its a different field....so either case risky

Thank you Dipta and Mead,

I can explain them that Bachelor's I did in India was only related to computer Science without any focus in particular subject, where as in Canada they provide specialization in Artificial Intelligence, which I am really interested in pursuing.

u can write a good SOP explain everything but that is not going to make ur case strong there that little chance of rejection either way its u decision u can take a chance but my recommendation is go for masters..good luck to u

it is never a good idea to hide anything or falsifying information..it can be traced back to u if not now later when u do PR and stuff... u never know.......and also u will have a 5 year gap which u wont be able to fill.
