Folks,

I need some information regarding PCC. In our application, my wife is the primary applicant. Our passports do not have spouse names added in it. We do have a valid Marriage certificate though. Do we need to update our passports (add spouse name) for PCC purposes. Or will marriage certificate suffice?

Inputs from any members who went through this issue would be highly appreciated.

PS: I am aware that CIC does not care about what our passports mention.

I dont think you need to update your passport. But I am not 100% certain. But make sure you also enquire about birth certificate. It might be required for you since you are not the primary applicant.

Last week we ran into the same problem here at PSK Gurgaon. My wife's passport does not have my name on it and she was asked to get a new passport before they will issue the PCC. They did not consider the marriage certificate or the fact that her Aadhar card mentions my name..

Sadly, these are the rules handed over to the TCS folks who run the PSK operations and they are not allowed to budge.

There is an alternate option for people who have stayed at the same address for the past 10 years.. talk to your local police station and they can issue a address specific PCC and state your record for the last 10 years.. (Delhi actually has an online portal for this)

That's bad. I cannot apply for a new passport since we are flying to Phuket/Koh Samui from Apr 28 - May 6. We both can apply for new passport after coming back. I am okay with tatkaal scheme, however I am not sure how to get a verification certificate. No agent seems to be able to get it for us :(

We applied through tatkal as well.. Verification certificates are something that agents won't be able to get.. You have to know someone personally in the Indian bureaucratic system..

PCC from PSK is the best option as they give you a letter that is pan-India and does not mention dates..

Theoretically you can get certificates from both Gurgaon and Punjab and if those letters combined give you a 10 year period, you should be good to go.. The problem is that police in Punjab may not be willing to issue you a letter because you no longer stay there.. (police letters mention dates of stay in their jurisdiction)

The rules for getting a pcc change everyday as per the govt.one day they are ok with no spouse name the other day they ask u to change. If your current address n permanent address are same then you are good to go for PCC even if spouse names are missing. Else depending on the day of govt rule you will have to apply for a new passport if your address is different.

My experience with tatkal is that you do not need a verification certificate for reissue provided your verification check with police was done before with the previous passport.
