ETA as per IRCC is required for Visa exempt individuals (Like Canada PR Holders, US Citizens and some other class of folks who dont need a visa to enter Canada) : https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/eta/facts.html

Per my understanding showing your Passport, Study permit visa stamp, PoE and Letter of Acceptance/Enrollment at your university is good enough, apart from stuff like GIC advice, latest India bank statements, all document originals and so on (Same bunch of docs you may have submitted at the time of application)

Correct me if I am wrong on the eTA thingy.

You always need either a visitor visa or an eTA IN ADDITION to the study permit. If you don’t have one already, the eTA is issued automatically with the permit approval, so you don’t have to make a second application for that.

however, you are right that ppl who are visa exempt usually require (only) an eTA. But you still need it too if you need/want a study permit

The complete timeline for passport submission

28 july - passport submitted to courier
30 july - passport reached ahmedabad vfs
5th Aug- transit to Vfs delhi
6th Aug- reached delhi vfs, intransit to IRCC
11th Aug- received and under process in IRCC
16th Aug- Counterfoil updated
17th Aug- reached back to delhi vfs, couriered from delhi(noon) . POE updated (evening)

Thanks for that...so is the eTA provided in GCKey or do we need to do any thing to trigger it. Or is it a document that the CBSA automatically have with them when we arrive at the Immigration counters post landing in Canada.

Could anyone advise me on whether I should wait to receive my passport to book a flight? Have already received counterfoil and POE letter and passport was dispatched to VAC Delhi today. Looking to book for 27/28th so I have limited options.

There's no chance that my passport won't be stamped, right? When I called VFS, they told me to wait in case my passport hadn't been stamped.

Counter foil updated, IRCC issued the permit based on initial acceptance letter although I had raised the webform two times and inform them about deferral. Can’t believe that they haven’t seen the webform submission.
