Hi Experts,

I want to apply for parents sponsorship this year 2019. I have enough income for a family of 5 in 2015, 2016, 2017. But in 2018 my income is less than the required income.

1) can I use my wife as co-signer only for the year 2018 provided she only has only 2 notice of assessments i.e. 2017(14k income) and 2018 (10k income).

3) does my wife also needs to have 3 years of income proof? (which she don't have)

If your wife can be your co-signer, as long as the combined income meet the requirement for all 3 years, then you are good.

Hi Salman, May be you can assist me:)

I have received the invitation today and honestly i wasn't expecting it to come. I applied for it last year as my friend was applying for his parents. I know its late but i have a questions in terms of income requirement. For the year 2018 my income was $66k and i have a family of four. Since i will be applying for my parents visa do i need to consider them in my 2018 income as well which will make my family to 6 or should i only consider them for the 2020 income as i am applying for them in 2021. The only reason i am asking this question is because if i consider my parents in 2018 then i donot meet the income requirement however my income was high in 2019 and 2020 ? what are your thoughts .. do you think it is worth applying as CIC may show some flexibility ?

You have to include your parents in the calculation for 2018, 2019 and 2020.

IRCC will not show flexibility.

Do not bother applying since you don't have enough money for all three years. You will be automatically refused. You don't meet the requirements to sponsor.

So it's like a party to join? Because your friend was applying and you submit your application without checking to see if you qualified.

Family size calculation includes applicant and dependents (i.e. your parents). So you need to meet income requirement for 6. If your spouse have income and if your combined income meet the requirement, then you are OK. If your combined income is still below for 2018, I don't think you should apply.

Anyway, you can choose to appy and lost your time (cos you cannot submit interest to apply when you have an active application in progress.) and money on this application. Or wait till you qualify.

@scylla If I apply for PGP 2021 sponsorship for my parents, will I then be able to apply for the spousal sponsorship? What would be the different requirements at that time? Will I have to meet higher minimum income requirement once I get married and apply for spousal sponsorship?

Yes, you can apply for spousal sponsorship at the same time.

You will need to meet higher minimum income requirements once you are married. It doesn't matter if you have sponsored your spouse yet or not. Once you are married, you have to include your spouse when you calculate LICO.

Thanks for your reply! :)
So once I apply for PGP this year then let’s say I get married next year January, will I then have to go back to last 3 years of minimum income requirements on Notice Of Assessment(Not sure if this eligibility come into play at that time again too) or only meeting LICO criteria would count to apply for the spousal sponsorship?

There is no LICO count or hard minimum income for spousal sponsorship.

Your family size will increase starting from the year that you get married for the PGP sponsorship.
