Hello,

I want to sponsor my parents and my wife wants to sponsor her parents in 2018.
Came to Canada from US in September 2014 with my spouse. We worked in Canada ever since.

I have some questions as per below:

1. The Sponsorship webform asks for 2015, 2016 and 2017 income so assuming 2014 is not considered if applying in 2018 Correct?

2. While calculation the family size, the wording I read says "Valid Undertaking" in the past, which means if we have never sponsored anyone in the past and have a family of Husband, wife and one kid, sponsoring Parents (2) and Inlaws (2) separately in two sponsorship web forms.

Family size will be for my self - 5
Family size for my Wife - 5
?

Appreciate a prompt response.

PS - I called CIC and they said, we wiil not be needing 2014 income to qualify for 2018 applications. Plus enter family size of 5 on husband and family size of 5 on wife's sponsorship form as you never know who is going to be picked. If both the Intents gets picked then the income needs to be qualified for 7 people not 5. Does this sounds right?

Thanks

Correct, that's the way it looks for 2018.

It depends, if you will be co-signing each others apps to meet income amounts, then family size will be 7 for both of you if you end up submitting 2 apps.

Each of you will need to enter the lottery. You can only sponsor both sets of parents, if both of you are lucky to get selected.

If just 1 of you gets selected, then family size will be 5 for just that set of parents you will sponsor in 2018.

Thanks. I think I will enter family size 5 on my form and 5 on my wife until unless both are selected.

each of you will need to independently meet income of 5, if you intend to pool income from 2 (cosponsor) then you both need to meet income of 7 and must enter 7.

We will be cosigning each other but for the sake of the web form sponsorship we entered 5 each.

That will probably be fine, assuming you do meet LICO for family size of 7 in case you both get picked. And then you can submit actual PR apps with family sizes of 7.

IRCC is saying webform intent submission must match your eventual PR app exactly, but really this will not be possible in all cases since some people will see changes to family size in-between intent form and actual app submission.

Thanks ROB_TO and Deerestlovelybear for the response. I have cross check and even at family size of 7 (if lucky enough) at the time of actual PR application the income should be sufficient.

I have 1 more question and may be I can open another thread for this.

Do the Parents should have legal presence in the current country they are residing? If not then if the Intent is selected then they should go back tot he country of origin so that we can do the PR application? I think the application is forwarded to the home country office.
