Include medical check with package sent to CIC?

We are preparing the package for my wife's PR to send this week and I am wondering if it is wisest to perhaps not include the proof of having taken the medical at this stage or not. The checklist (IMM5443) states that it is optional at this stage. My concern is that if I do include it and by some chance the application is declined that we would then have to go through with the $200 medical again. Can anyone share some advice on this?

The sheet I would be including was provided by the doctor's office after the medical was performed (e-Medical information sheet with her UMI number assigned) and I have scanned a copy of it to my computer.

I don't recall seeing that the medical is optional (officially), but CIC does seem to realize that for most Inland applicants, the results would likely expire before their application has been processed. Some have simply included a note with their application, indicating that the medical will be scheduled at a later date, and the results sent directly to CIC. This lets CIC know that you did see this on the checklist, but chose not to waste your money to include examination results that would be potentially worthless.

Perhaps the `optional' that you are referring to is the statement that `instructions will be provided once your eligibility has been determined', which would be when your wife receives her AIP.

I'm curious to know if in fact she has already had her medical, since your wording seems to indicate that she has. if this is the case, there's no reason not to send them to CIC...as you've already paid for them anyway.

Good luck

Yes, we completed her medical in December. My concern is if by some chance the application is denied that the medical I send with the package would get tossed and we would have to redo the medical ($200 + 50 for blood and x-ray).

You say that you're concerned that if the application is DENIED, the medical would get tossed. Do you mean that you're concerned that your application would be RETURNED (as incomplete), and the medical results tossed? If your Inland application is denied, you lose a lot more than the medical costs!!

If her medical was done last month and you haven't sent the application in yet...you're already one month behind.

As you probably know, her medical results are only valid for 12 months and with the Stage 1 approval (of you as her sponsor) currently at 11 months...you can pretty much expect CIC to request her to redo her medical down the road. There have been cases where CIC grants an extension, but no idea how they determine eligibility for those `lucky' few.

I hate to say it, but you may end up paying again for her medical. Since you already have her results, there's no reason not to include them and hope that you get the extension.
