Hey everyone,

Me and my fiancé will be getting married December 7th and have a couple questions.

1. What is the current processing time for inbound and for outbound
2. Can my fiancé stay with me in Canada and still apply outbound (if so what is the process)
3. Customs stamped fiancé passport with visa but didn't put end date (just October 19th date), is she allowed to stay for 6 months, or 3 months because that's what her return ticket was for that she showed customs, when asked how long she was staying.
4. If we apply inbound is she allowed to go back to Taiwan during the processing period and if she is how safe is it?
5. If we apply outbound in Canada, if she goes back to Taiwan, will she be able to return back to Canada and wait until her pr processes?
6. If we apply outbound in Canada, can we get everything done in Canada without her needing to go back to Taiwan (such as health exam, documents etc...)

1. The processing times are 11 months for outland and 26 months for inland. These are not averages, so the time it actually takes may be much less.
2. Yes, she can stay in Canada as a visitor and still apply outland. She uses the regular outland application, which is here on the CIC website:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
3. She can stay for 6 months. One month before this time is up, she can apply to extend her stay if she wants to.
4. She can go back to Taiwan if she applies inland, but she is advised not to. The problem is if she is not allowed back into the country, the inland application is over. She would probably be let back in, but it is not sure. For an inland application, the sponsor and applicant are supposed to be living together in Canada during processing. A short time spent apart is OK, as long as she can get back into Canada.
5. Yes, if she applies outland, she can stay in Canada as a visitor, or leave Canada. She does not have to stay with you in Canada. If she leaves Canada and then tries to come back in, again it is not certain that she will be allowed back. Probably she would be; she should have proof of ties to Taiwan; a return ticket with a specific date; and proof that you have started the PR application. However, if she is not let back in, this will not hurt her PR application - it will continue to be processed.
6. She can get the medical exam done in Canada (it has to be done by one of the panel physicians listed by CIC). She may be able to get other documents while in Canada; this depends on what she needs.
