Hi all

I hope you can help!

I'm currently completing a taught Masters (completed 4 out of 5 years undergrad) at a non Canadian university (UK). I didn't think this would count, however I was surprised to find a 'my current study' field in the application. Does anyone know if this will count towards any points of if I can even get a ECA for it?

I already have a one year foundation degree with an ECA but getting credit for the additional 4 years of the Masters would be good.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

Many thanks!

I'm bumping this. A very interesting question.

Did you have to upload any proof of this study (transcript etc.)? I'm guessing if it hasn't been assessed in your ECA it would not count, but if there is hope for this, I'd be thrilled (I'm also doing a Masters).

I will have to upload an official transcript as far as I am aware.

As far as the ECA is concerned I have emailed to ask ICES if they can process an incomplete degree. I will update when I hear more.

It would be great if it counted for something, the EE system is not really set up for final year students from unis outside Canada to score highly even though it is the perfect time to immigrate!

*update*

You can not get an ECA for a degree in progress therefore the EE application 'my current study' section is redundant, it does not get you any points.

I guess it just shows that you haven't been unemployed for that period of time.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the update! There's nothing to do than to be patient and finish that degree and update the ECA after.
I was even thinking of getting an online certificate from a Canadian uni to boost the points, but I'm not sure it would be accepted. I find the part about the education a bit unfair. Someone with a 3y bachelors and postgrad certificate is regarded much more highly than someone with an hons bachelors and a masters in progress (I'm talking about the transferability points). If I had known, I would have gone for the certificate. I'll probably have to do another Masters in Canada anyway.
