When a person's status changes from "received by the visa office" to "in process", what does this mean?
Does it mean, the person is eligible on ministerial instructions and all documentation are in order?
Does it only mean the person is eligible on ministerial instructions?
How about on points? Someone said it means the person is eligible on ministerial instructions and on points (without verification of the documents). Is that right?

that means tht ur app is in process nd thr is no hault. It is a positive sign

There is now on only 3 danger zones till u get ur visas.
1. In Process but if decision made status if u get before medicals request = Rejection
2. Medicals done = Any problem in medicals.
3. After medicals final security clearance = any problem in security clearance.

If u clear these 3 last stage its " Welcome to Canada"

I agree with you shibuya. And I think the most crucial one is item No. 1.

is processing taking longer now?

I think processing time all depends on the documents we have submitted AND the VO processing it.. But lets think positively because AFAIK, Canada immigration is aiming to reduce the backlogs and reduce the processing time. Thus, new rule (June 26) came out.

Thanks to you all.

Why do people get rejected during this stage? is it for points or for documentation or ministerial instructions?
Does it mean none of those (points, documentation, ministerial instructions) been checked prior to in-process?

new2canada, are you in the buffalo or ND visa office. Mine recently changed to "in process" but i did not send IELTS so I am sure they haven't checked points yet.
