There seems to be a lot of applications with this status at the moment. Something is not right.

I'm starting to wonder the same thing. It's freaking me out.

Yeah I'm increasingly convinced it's not as straightforward as it used to be and is possibly something to do with the the on-going updates to the entire ECAS platform, or a glitch in the system.

No offence to them, but there's people apparently seeing "In Process" on their PR application literally the next day after getting sponsor approval. Sadly I can't possibly see how that can mean a decision on their application is imminent in the same way it traditionally has.

You are all speculating. Wait and see what happens with these folks. I monitor all the U.S. related threads as about 4 months worth of the monthly threads and so far there is no evidence that "in process" doesn't mean exactly what it has before...that they are looking at the file and at least in the case of U.S. applicants, a decision will be made within 2-4 weeks, if not sooner.

Well, I did say so far. :D

But I don't understand why people would the meaning of "in Process" would change just because there are more of them all of a sudden. Could well be that CIC is simply making a push on family sponsorships right now.

Very true. But let's stay positive and just believe CIC is feeling generous and making a push on family sponsorships!

It's absolutely speculation, but I don't think it's at all unreasonable to suggest that given the sudden spike of people seeing "In Process" in the last week or so on ECAS that those of us who have seen this take it with a pinch of salt.

Especially when it comes to applying the traditional wisdom that seeing "In process" means your application is in the final stages of processing.

Can you explain where you're seeing "In Process"?

If you're seeing it in "eCas", then it means absolutely nothing at all, except that you have eCas access.

...I'm not sure what everyone else in this thread is referring to, but if it's eCas you're wondering about make no mistake that "In Process" means absolutely nothing.

I've had "In Process" in eCas for 8 months now, my spouse is a U.S. applicant, and I'm still nowhere near through this nightmare.

Pretty sure if it changed from application received to "in process" after many months in ECAS there is some type of movement on your application.

I think when they start processing they clearly mention on Ecas that we start processing on your file...........this date, if nothing is typed under in process, that means they did not touch your file.

Maybe it means something for outland. I know that it means nothing for inland.

Yeah, that's definitely the difference between what you are experiencing and what someone who has filed outland would experience. The timelines are considerably different.

Hey everyone... I'm wondering this too. From reading the forums it seems like all the new people whose ecas shows in process do not have a 3rd line when they click on it that says "we started processing your application on xxx date" but the "old" people who have in process seem to have this.

Therefore I'm thinking that the new people (myself included) are not "in process" in the way that it seems to have meant in the past. It seems like maybe they just changed their system to be that you're in process once they send your app to the second visa office to process the applicant section.

Sadly this is my 2 cents, pessimistic/realistic as it may be.

But hey I've always believed it's better to NOT have your hopes up and be pleasantly surprised rather than be let down a lot. But I'm the type who was a goth in the smoking pit in high school so that could be why.

Any new in process people have a line in their ecas that specifies the date they started processing it?

In this case it's not the timelines that makes the discrepancy.

For Inland when they actually start looking at your file you can get DM in a week. Which is something like Outland. They get your file, they start processing it, etc.

The difference is that with Inland they put "In Process" in your eCas immediately. So for inland it's completely meaningless.
Apparently with Outland they only get "In Process" if your file is actually in process, but just the words "In Process" may be the same meaningless note the Inlanders get.
