Hi,

There are multiple visa for Parents. For 10 year multiple entry visa parent can stay for max 6 months in a stretch. After how much time he or she can return back to canada?

Also, if I have sponsored my wife, after how many years she is eligible to sponsor her parents for PR?

Thanks,
Ritesh

The length of time the are permitted to stay is determined by CBSA at the border and can be UP TO 6 months. This is not guaranteed and is assessed on each entry. Once in Canada, they can apply for extensions up to 2 years. If they are making frequent trips to Canada or spending more time in Canada than in there home country, CBSA may determine they are attempting to live in Canada and refuse them entry. A visa does not guarantee you entry, so use it wisely.

For PR, you and your spouse must meet minimum LICO requirements for the 3 years prior to sponsorship for your family size (you, your wife, any children born during the processing time or before and you parents/grandparents) plus 30%. For a family of 4, that's about $75,000 and must be Canadian income. You must also sign a 20 year undertaking to support them (no government support or you will have to repay it). You also have to be drawn during the lottery process for the 10,000 openings.....this year is closed already, so 2018 is the earliest you can apply if you meet LICO requirements.

Thanks for your reply. If I haven't sponsored anyone till now can I sponsor both my Spouse and new born baby at the same time without any minimum time requirement ?. I guess we need to file one single application for main applicant and new born will be dependent on the main applicant.

That would be correct. There is no limitation on when you can sponsor your wife and child. If you are a PR yourself, and we're married/common law at the time you arrived you should have included them on your application before landing as non accompanying. Failure to do so can result in them being inadmissible as family. There are no requirements for minimum earning for family sponsorship, but you do need to prove you can live without government assistance.
